Finally an acknowledgement from the Beeb.
Thanks to Briantist, Tom, Stewart and others. I sadly let myself be pacified by the bbc when I rang yesterday - they acknowledged they'd had calls but didn't say what they'd do. Well done for pestering Arquiva.
Is this the Big Society in action? - we'll get moving when we're motivated!!
I'm British and I demand television!
Seriously though - thanks and well done

Thanks to all you guys for your explanations and your dogged determination to help sort this out! I also got a pointless email back from the BBC telling me to re-tune. This is despite me telling them that I had done just that, and that HD was working perfectly for the first week or so in NG16 only 2 miles from the Tx and clear line of sight. As it's a transmission fault there's no surprise that it affects my HD TV, my HD PVR, and also my next-door neighbour's HD TV. I think I might rattle the BBC's box again....

Hopefully all will be well from now on!
A more general query, which hopefully Brian can advise on. BBC HD only periodically "blips"-sound and pic falter for a millisecond-then it runs OK for several minutes , then it happens again. The ADS featuring the cat/Lion "blip" every time-the other HD channels don't do the same-is there anything I'm doing wron? My Sony TV is 100hz and I have Motionflow on Standard. Thanks for any advice. Best Regards, Stewart.

Ripley
I'm in Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3SP.
New (3 weeks) Sony Bravia HD TV...worked intermittently on Emley Moor using ancient aerial (including HD channels). A new wideband aerial was fitted yesterday, receiving Nottingham (as are all neighbour's sets).
ALL digital stations work perfectly, but NO
sign of any of the 4 HD channels.
Retune/resets all tried unsuccessfully.
Is this still this transmitter problems, or do I ring the 0800 number..any help, please?

Hi Ken C-all 4 HD Channels working fine at 17.43pm on Nottingham transmitter here in Woodthorpe NG3! Try manual tuning Channel 21-that gives all 4 HD channels-otherwise the helpline would be the best bet. All providers say it is best after a new aerial/new transmitter to unplug set and aerial, leave for 15 minutes, then carry out an initial installation, not just a digital auto search. Worth a try-Good Luck! Best Regards, Stewart.

Stewart Crowe: The BBC have made a change to flip between interlaced and progressive modes for different content. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/researchanddevelopment/2011/04/software-upgrade-for-bbc-hd-on.shtml
Some TVs aren't handling it well. Sony may be developing an update to fix the issue - your best bet is to contact them.

Ripley
Stewart Crowe: Thanks for that advice. After much deliberation, and with the help of your confirmation that Nottingham IS working, I have realised (by checking the freqencies) that I am actually receiving direct from Waltham rather than Nottingham!
The two transmitters are in almost exactly the same direction from here. So no HD from Waltham until the DSO!
Really pleased that I've found this great website, could not have solved the problem without!
