DAB multiplexes
DAB radio transmits by using digital multiplexes, which carry several radio stations together as a single broadcast. Some of these multiplexes cover cities, some counties, some regions and others are national. Over the last two or three weeks reception of SDL DAB channels is patchy (at best) at my office address in central Sheffield, but BBC channels are perfectly fine. My preferred listening is Scala Radio and its become unlistenable! Everything is fine in my car - no problems at all. I've tried a new DAB+ radio in my office but it makes no difference. I'm retuned regularly and the radio is placed near a window with aerial fully extended. Any ideas?

It seems all the multiplexes serving your area are on the Tapton Hill transmitter. The BBC aren't reporting any problems with multiplexes carrying their services (as you say they are OK in any event).
I'm afraid trying to find details of faults or maintenance affecting the commercial multiplexes can be like trying to get blood from a stone!
If the problems continue tomorrow , as it's Scala that you find is affected, I would try ringing them and ask them to contact the "transmitter" people to find out why there's suddenly problems with reception in Central Sheffield.
Try 0333 321 5555. As they are part of Bauer Media, you may find that's Bauer's number, but they should still be able to help. If that fails, try Twitter if you have access @ScalaRadio or for Bauer @bauermedia.
Failing all that use this webform About & contact - Digital Radio UK and additionally moan about the difficulty in finding out about transmitter problems.

No commercial DAB stations available in Ogmore Vale Bridgend CF32 7BB. Why is this? I have bought a new radio with DAB+ because I thought my older radio had developed a fault. But now realise that there doesn't appear to be any commercial stations available. I was miss informed that a DAB+ radio would provide me with extra stations. I have wasted money because of this misinformation.

A lot of commercial stations do now use DAB+, but there are no commercial multiplexes transmitted from the Ogmore Vale DAB transmitter, only the BBC National multiplex on Block 12B.
Unfortunately you are about half way between two Main commercial transmitters, one slightly N of due West of you at Kilvey Hill near Swansea, the other being Wenvoe roughly to the SW of you. You are not predicted to get indoor coverage from either! There is a relay transmitter a bit closer at Eglwysilan fractionally N of due E of you, but again not predicted to get indoor reception.
Whilst the information that a DAB+ radio will receive more commercial stations is correct, did you give your postcode so whoever advised could check local reception? Does the radio you've got have any provision for an external aerial? An easy check would be if you or any neighbours or friends have DAB+ in their car and can get reception outside your house, if so it may be worth investigating if an external aerial would get reliable reception (if your radio is suitable) - do your neighbours have any external DAB aerials?

DAB aerials on car radios should be improved as city multiplexes have limited power and cannot be received without signal interruption on car aerials on the fringe or outer parts of the coverage area.
