Briantist,
Thanks for further advice, however this did not change anything. I have now managed to have a look at the signal strength and quality on channell 67 it comes up poor and weak respectively. All the other channels from Sandy Heath transmitting a bouquet of services all register very good and strong respectively. Any further ideas please?

Pete: To be honest, you might just have to wait three weeks until 23 November 2011 when the multiplex moves to C52.

just had new ariel installed, pointing towards crystal palace, live in lu2 0pu postcode, picture has been breaking up, lose picture, and it says no signal, do you think we should be with sandy heath instead? would they have to move ariel around or can we retune. HELP

kaz edwards: Yes, you need to use Sandy Heath, yes you need to point the aerial at the transmitter to get services from it.

Clive windy pure guesswork, but there might be equipment under test using C52 but not sending a readable signal.

Clive Windy: Transmissions can travel a very long way, sometimes - under particular weather conditions - far further than planned. You can still get enough signal to detect even if it's not usable. I suspect the transmission on C52 is Emley Moor near Huddersfield.
Your mother's box must be one of those that simply stores the first version found rather than the best quality or strongest. See Digital Region Overlap for ideas on how to handle this.

jason: That multiplex that carries ITV3 among others is on lower power than the rest. On 23rd November its power will be increased to its final level so try retuning on or after then.
