There are no issues currently being reported with the Rosemarkie transmitter. The problem you report is most commonly due to a poor connection in your aerial system. So check every signal connection carefully, ensuring that the inner core is separate from the outer braiding and that all plugs and sockets are correctly fitted. Light corrosion of one contact is the common cause.

Don Macleod: No, STV2 is not broadcast from Rosemarkie. It's available on Sky channel 117 in areas that have STV on 103 and is also available to watch via STV's website and smart TV/phone apps.

Paul Horth:

You are only 10 miles from the transmitter and should be getting good reception. There are no known fault at present with the Rosemarkie transmitter but some enh=gineering work has been done recently, mainly from early July.

Please would you check all the connections between your TV set and the aerial. The contacts of plugs and sockets are a well known source of such problems. Also check what the signal strength is for each of the multiplexes. That should idealy be between 60% and 85%, no more and no less. If it is more then you have too much signal and need an attentuator. If it is less then you need to investigate why within the aerial system.

Incidentally, this website is not the way to contact the engineers who maintain the over 1100 transmitters around the UK. They are all operated by Arqiva, who can be contacted via https://www.arqiva.com/co…us/.

Having reception problems on 5-USA Picture breaking up, but no spurious patterns as of another channel.
Is power reduced ? Normally no problems. My location Lower Foyers. From house roof, beside my aerial, I can see the Tx aerial.
No problems on other channels, at least those tried.

Colin Evans:

5 USA is on the same multiplex as ITV3, Drama, etc. So if they are being received without problem than there must be some other problem. Transmitters do not go to reduced power on one multiplex only unless there is a fault and none are reported and that would affect all the other programmes on that same multiplex.

So to help you we need a full post code, just the location is not sufficient to look up the reception conditions.

If you can see the transmitter mast you may have too much signal so please check what the reported signal strength is on the SDN (COM4) multiplex that carries 5 USA, etc. You need the signal to be between 60% and 85% ideally, see the article 'too much of a good thing' on this website at https://ukfree.tv/article…d_f.

MikeP: ITV3 moved from COM4 to PSB2 a few months ago (although not reflected in the channel listings on this website). COM4 does still contain Drama, 5USA, ITV Be, 5 Star and others.

The Radio Times now lists the Smithsonian Channel, Channel 99, but when I try to add new digital channels it isn't found. When, if ever, will this channel become available to Easter Ross (I can see the Rosemarkie transmitter from my sitting room window)?
