jimmy smith:

I can't find any current fault reports for the transmitter and it's not listed for planned engineering and neither is it's parent transmitter as this is a relay transmitter.
However, current weather conditions might be causing temporary disruption to reception. This should clear quickly but may return later over the next day or two. Do NOT retune when you have no signal as this generally just clears your correct tuning and you'll then have to repeat the process when signals are normal and you can't be sure when that may be, so it could be rather hit and miss.

Yes the heat has been intolerable. The predictions for Tropospheric Ducting weather conditions have indicated some quite variable and periodically strong ducting for a number of areas and even the BBC have listed warnings for disruption to reception for quite a few Scottish (relay) transmitters.
I'll try and get the site owner's attention drawn to the posting issue.

Thomas Healey :

The Millburn Muir transmitter is only a Freeview "Light" transmitter and does not have the commercial multiplexes. You may be/have been tuned to another main transmitter and weather conditions may have allowed reception of those signals which may be weaker.

See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which TV channels are carried on which multiplex.

However, if you provide a full postcode we can check your predicted reception which may show whether you can get reliable signals from a main transmitter.
Which way is your aerial pointing (rough compass direction) and are its rods (or squashed Xs) vertical or horizontal?

Partner just checked this evenings recordings from various tv channels and 5 different recordings are all partially recorded and at the moment 0009hrs there is just a black screen. Reset youview box and still same. Checked ariel input etc. Ariel is indoor but provides excellent signal normally from Millburn Muir transmitter. G82 1RH is postcode.

Probably just weather? Thought I would report anyway just in case.

It could well be weather conditions Jimmy, there's currently a lot of quite strong to intense tropospheric ducting predicted for your general area at the moment and the BBC have issued a specific warning for Millburn Muir! I guess with the low transmission power of Millburn Muir it can affect you even at 5km away!
Freeview and the BBC have issued general warnings for the possibility of short term disruption to reception across various parts of the UK.

Hi, sometimes information can be found at BBC Transmitter Engineeering information | free and easy for 21 years but it doesn't always cover everything, yours being missing at present despite others being mentioned!
Otherwise for general information try Latest engineering works and warnings | Help receiving TV and radio

For specific information about your (BBC) transmitter Check transmitter faults | Help receiving TV and radio select Freeview and put in your postcode and house name/number there.
Conditions for your area have changed slightly so you'll see the previous "faults" in the last 5 days.
