Alan Hume:

Depends on what equipment you have and how they are connected together. If you give model numbers we can look up the technical details.

It's a Panasonic dmr hwt250. There is a masthead amp on the antenna and the hdr has it's own antenna connection. The hdr is connected to the tv with an HDMI cable. It can receive and displays com7 stations but will not record them.

Well as mysteriously as it occurred, my recording problems with BBC4 HD have disappeared. One of life's enigma.

I notice that BBC4 HD has moved to com8. Is this why my ability to record it has been restored?

Hi, having issues with all TV channels on COM7 which includes BBC News HD at postcode DD10 9LQ. I have followed the rescan instructions, even a full factory reset. This has a temporary effect of restoring the COM7 channels at 50% signal/quality, but can see it fluctuating between 50% and 0% every second. Don't have any issues with any other TV channels which all have signal strength 74% and signal quality 100%.

It appears to me that COM7 has been getting worse since the beginning of March. Very annoying. Can anything be done to improve the transmitter signal?

Raphael: A fluctuating signal like you describe is likely to be caused by a problem with your aerial system (e.g. a loose or damaged connection somewhere) or they aerial may have been moved by the wind or damaged by the bad weather over the last few weeks. COM7 & COM8 are broadcast at a much lower power level than the main PSB1-3 & COM4-6 muxes from Angus and would therefore be the most likely to show signs of a fault.

Can you tell me which aerial group I should use please.
Angus is my nearest transmitter and I live in DD4 7UN area.
My current aerial has a yellow marking on the end and I suspect I have the wrong aerial as I get very poor reception.

Kind Regards
Peter Davidson

Peter Davidson: The best thing would be to fit a wideband type such as a log periodic which will be suitable to receive all current and planned future frequencies (Angus is due to change frequency for all multiplexes in 3 stages which will be completed by the end of next year). It's also worth checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections as at on 10km away you should be getting a very strong signal.
