I am trying to receive a freeview signal using a new wideband aerial installed in the loft.
I have tried the Sheffield transmitter both horizontally and vertically and the same for the Emley Moor transmitter. The best I have got so far is a good picture on Multiplex 1 with nothing else.
Post code is S4 7FL.
Please help!

Andy Ellis: Move the aerial to the roof. Loft aerials are not suitable for reliable Freeview reception.

Just bought a freeview box for bedroom. All other tvs in the house can get itv 1 ,channel4 and channel 5 with the exception of the new box. The new box could get the channels on mux 2 until yesterday but then disappeared. There are no other devices attached to the tv. Reset the box which didn't resolve the problem. The new box is attached to a roof top aerial shated by the other tvs.
Any suggestions?

We lost all our TV reception this morning (16.3.11) around 01:15am and it was still off at 03:00am.
There was a "No Signal" notice on the screen from both our Digital Recorders and the analogue reception on the TV itself had also been lost.
I cannot find any reference to this happening, anywhere on the internet and think that there should, at least, be a requirement for companies to explain the reasons for this.
Can't they warn us if they are going to do some work which may result in lost transmissions?

Anthony Johnson: It looks like you're probably using the Emley Moor transmitter rather than the Sheffield transmitter.
The Emley Moor transmitter was shut down completely (excepting C5 analogue and the HD service, which come from a different aerial, I believe) this morning until about 6am. This was for some work required before DSO happens in September.
Digital UK did put a note on their Planned Engineering Works page - on Tuesday morning. That's how engineering work is now announced. The days of reserved engineering hours and announcements are long gone.
As far as on-screen warning messages go, I don't think it's possible to only put messages up on multiplex 1 and 2 for Emley Moor itself and not for the other transmitters in the region (Chesterfield, Idle, Keighley and Sheffield). Mux A, B, C and D don't have regional variations in England - the same signal is transmitted by all the English transmitters, and B, C and D by all the transmitters in the UK.
The public-service broadcasters - BBC, ITV1, C4 and C5 - have promised to run captions for two weeks before switchover, telling you that you'll need to retune.
