Dave, Briantist: C40 will now be retained for TV broadcasting, along with C39, replacing C61 and C62 which are to be released for 4G. This change happened after most of the plans were made, so they're being redone.
Because the retained channels are in a different aerial group from those being released, they're actually moving allocations of C61 to C49 and C62 to C50 (in general, though it depends on interference). To make this possible, some sites allocated C50 move to C40 and C49 to C39, if they would interfere. It does depend on the aerial groups for the transmitters as well.
It's possible that Patcham's allocations may change before switchover to accommodate changes at other sites, or that C40 gets used by one of the main transmitters, preventing its use here.
Other local TV services are likely to only be available from the main transmitter sites. Certainly the tentative plans published as part of Ofcom's consultation several years ago - based on unfinished plans for the main multiplexes - only included main sites.
For the postcode you provided previously, it looks like Whitehawk Hill would be a reasonable option after switchover, though Patcham is the best option.

OK thanks for explaining...after March it will interesting to see how many point to Whitehawk from Patcham or even IOW perhaps to get all MUx's, but many houses I see don't even bother with an antenna now...

Dave: It is unlikely that people will use the Rowridge transmitter and it will be in the "wrong" region after switchover, as all Brighton and Hove transmitters will move to the "South East" service from Tunbridge Wells, rather than "news from two-hours distant Southampton".

This is good then I guess but we still need another micro region covering at least Sussex only... if not just Brighton to Worthing say...now this woulde be local !

Dave: The BBC Trust has said there will be no smaller BBC regions, ITV did have an "ITV Local" service that covered Brighton, but this was online back in 2005 - News Releases | ITV plc and closed a few years later.
There might be local TV in the future on Freeview - Local television | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - there is a consultation - Framework for Local TV Consultation - on it at the moment as it one of Jeremy Hunt's priorities.

Hi, Brian -
I'm concerned to hear from you that all the Brighton TV transmitters will be changing region to what is effectively the "London and surrounds" region when switchover happens! To my mind this would be a retrograde step - the BBC local news from Southampton currently gives much better editorial cover of Brighton than does the London region. Are you sure about this change, and where did you get the information from?
Incidentally, I looked at your Twitter page to find out what your name actually is (I didn't want to address this to "Dear Briantist"!) and was interested to see that, like me, you're in Brighton.

Richard Davis: I think I understand now.
South East Today is a programme designed for Kent and East Sussex and comes from Tunbridge Wells, and not the "London" service which comes from the capital.
This isn't the old "Newsroom Southeast" service which once covered London AND Kent/East Sussex AND Oxford. These are now three distinct different services.
It is, as I said, the service that everyone in Brighton already gets on cable and satellite.
Brighton is the most populated city in the NSE area and get much higher billing that it does on South Today.
Please compare "Newsroom Southeast" - BBC South East map | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - with "London" region BBC London map | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice and also BBC South BBC South map | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Five minutes in, a report from outside Brighton Police station. 12 minutes in a report about Brighton and Hove Albion.
As I said the service was created back in 2001 to cover Kent and East Sussex.
