Shirley: Can you tell me the make and model of the "DVD". I'm not sure if you just mean a cheap DVD player or a Freeview+ DVD recording device.
From what you've said I would return "the DVD" to the store where you got it and ask for one that works properly.

Dear Briantist, The DVD is a Sony RDRDC100B DVD REC/HDD 160GB bought at John Lewis MK. I reported the problem to them and have had two different electronics repair centres, both recommended by John Lewis, check the DVD over. Both have said "No faults found. Suspect problems are caused by Poor Signal"

Shirley: Are you JUST putting the aerial into the RDRDC100B?

Briantist, the aerial goes into the DVD at the "In" socket and the second aerial lead comes out the "Out" socket and is connected into the TV. A friend suggested I try using a Scart connection between the TV and DVD instead of the HMD1 to see if it makes a difference.

Shirley: If you could JUST connect the aerial to the DVD only, and then JUST the HDMI from the DVD to the TV.
Then do this My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice to the DVD.

Briantist, we seem to have made progress with the scart connection! The DVD seems to be picking up most of the channels, TV and Radio. I,m going to leave it now while I,m ahead, but thanks for your help and I will follow your advice if, or when, it all goes wrong again.

we've been having real problems receiving most ITV channels and most ch4 channels as well as some others over the past 2 weeks. We live in Aylesbury and use the Oxford transmitter. Anyone know what the problem is?
