martin cunningham: The reason that the Newcastle transmitter does not carry all the channels is outlined here:

Whether your house "may" be able to receive the full service from Divis cannot be answered without knowledge of where it is!

The difficulty in your general area with receiving from Divis is that Slieve Croob and nearby peaks are in the way.

Hi Brian, the map displayed is not for the Newcastle Freeview Light Transmitter, it is in fact a small relay set on a hill just above the village of Leitrim, County Down which is roughly 16miles west of the Newcastle (Drinahilly, Mourne Mountains) looking down on Newcastle.

Damian:

I'm not sure if Brian has corrected anything, or if there was some sort of error when you looked, but the map I'm looking at now appears to be correct.

Davy McDonald: If you are receiving from the Newcastle transmitter then you won't.

There are a lot of smaller, filler-in transmitters such as Newcastle that carry the PSB (Public Service Broadcaster) channels only (these include the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, along with some ITV and Channel 4 sister channels).
