Chris at RG29 1QR. Same problem at RG29HW - signal just stopped some time this morning - I think it was about 10.45. Anybody have a clue why? This is a problem I have been experiencing now for about 4 weeks. Everything is fine, and then the signal just dissappears.

saltydog: My signal is still off now, I have absolutely no channels at all and can only get very weak analogue bbc 1+2 ITV and C4. It does say elsewhere on this site that there are engineering works going on but only mentions weak signal on certain channels, not a complete loss of service???
My areial is on the roof pointing w-nw as this site says is direction to Hannington. It is also brand new only fitted a couple of days ago!

I collect data for an inview panel and I understand that this is transmitted on chanel 93. For the past month it has been difficult or impossible to tune the box onto this frequency due to a weak signal.
The main viewing channels are fine.
Aerial is outside on the chimney and I have an amplifier in the house close to the TV and the set top box which I use. I live at Micheldever. SO21 3BP

I live in Fleet Hampshire, GU51 3DB, and recently had a new digital aerial fitted and pointed at Hannington. We still suffer from picture pixelation and breakup, particularily in the evening on most freeview channels. The aerial supplier tells us that there is work being done on the transmitter, which is running at 18% efficiency, and all will be well in 2012. Is this correct?

I am in Oxford, Horspath. OX33 1RJ We use Hannington and not Oxford due to Shotover Hill blocking its signal
After deteriorating signals from Hannington I was forced to replace the old antenna. Last week I installed a new aerial on the roof with a mast head amplifier and it worked fine. Initially! Now it works sometimes, sometimes not. Completely random it seems. Absolutely no signal at all.
We have two aerials, free view set top boxes and two televisions. I can check both sets in case of the absence of a signal. That way I don't have to buy each time new equipment!
What is wrong with Hannington?

Roelof Kramer: Digital UK's predictor reckons you have a slightly better chance of reliable reception from Oxford than from Hannington. While there is a hill blocking line-of-sight from Oxford, there is actually also one blocking line-of-sight from Hannington, it's just further away (Thurle Down, north-west of Streatley).
It is possible to have too much signal. Many people specifying new equipment add amplification completely unnecessarily. I would start by bypassing the masthead amp, and see what the results are.
A professional installer would use a strength meter indicating the Modulation Error Ratio - an indication of how much the signal is distorted from the ideal - to decide what size aerial to use and determine whether any amplification was needed. Digital UK's predictions are based on 10 dBd of gain from the aerial and 3 dB of loss in the cable.

Hi
I seem to have lost all BBC channels from my Freeview signal.
I watched the GP quali from Valencia yesterday PM and by the evening all BBC had gone.
Is this a fault or should I start investigating ??
Cheers,
Mike

Just lost my signal here in Marlborough (using
masthead amp) at 09.45. Seems to be on all channels. Heavy pixellation on BCC, no signal at all on ITV and C4.
