Will the Exeter area ever get more channels? It's very frustrating to only get 17+radio ones when other areas get so much more. If it's not planned is there anything people can do to get them to add extra channels?

Si: No, as I said above, this is a public service transmitter and the list above is all there is every going to be.

If you want more channels, use Freesat/Freesat HD/Freesat+HD.

I installed a Sharp TUT2 HD Freeview reciever yesterday at a house in west central Exeter and only got the channel subset (not Film 4, Dave etc). I live less than one mile to the north (EX4) and recieve the full Freeview service. Please could you explain why?

Damian: What you get depends on where the aerial is pointing. If it is indeed pointing to Exeter St Thomas, or any other relay, you will only get the 'Freeview Light' service - the Public Service Broadcasting multiplexes. This is because the operators of the other multiplexes refused to extend their broadcasts to any other sites, saying it would cost too much.

If you provide a full postcode, we can see whether a full service is expected to be available from another transmitter, and what you'd have to do to get it.

In that case I suspect I am accessing the Stockland Hill transmitter.

Please could you explain how the other house can access this as well?

Damian: With the correct aerial, pointed in the correct direction. Check Digital UK's postcode checker to avoid disappointment.

Note that Stockland Hill's commercial multiplexes remain on low power until after London's DSO on 18 April 2012, so you might not be able to get it now, but might be able to after that.

duryard: I would guess the answer is no you can't because you live in the bottom of a valley. The Digital UK predictor only suggests that you can only receive from St Thomas.

If I were you, I would look around at neighbours to see what they've done; whether they have aerials on other transmitters, and if so which one(s) and will they provide the additional services?

Hi
My mum was told that she wouldnt be able to get freeview Tv at her house unless she had an aerial upgrade and so therefore on advice purchased Sky FreeSat, she thereofre doesnt get some of the channels available on Freeview and i'm wondering if this is something which has changed. Apparently the whole of St Thomas have a problem receiving Freeview? She has a roof mounted aerial and was always able to received channels 1-4 before the days of freeview. Can you advise?
Many thanks
Susie

We have a Sagemcom digibox.
On film 4 there was a message saying if you recieve film 4 on channel 15 please return your free view box.As our digibox is 3 years old this would not be possible Graham.
