Rod:

Thank you for that, now we can see that your reception from Durris should be very good, perhaps too good? If you have signal strengths of 100% showing then there is a chance that you have too much signal and that is known to give several problems, depending on the behaviour of the tuner fitted to your equipment with such a strong signal. So it is worth checking the signal strengths shown on your TV for all the multiplexes. The ideal is normally to have 55%-85% on SD channels and between 65% and 85% for HD channels, less than this is a problem as is more than those figures. Also check that your equipment has a DVB-T2 tuner system to receive HD transmission such as BBC1 on LCN 101 (uses PSB3), BBC4 HD on LCN 106 (uses Com7) and More 4 + 1 on LCN 86 (uses Com8). If you can get those channelks that would confirm that you are able to receive all the available multiplexes from Durris.

However, there is no listing shown for any transmissions on the frequency of channel 30. Logical channel 30 carries 5Star and STV2 is not mentioned at all if you look at the list shown in the 'Freeview Map' link. Likewise it is not shown in the data shown in the 'digitaluk trade' link. So unless there has been an additional channel allocation that is not shown then it appears that STV2 is not available in your area served by Durris.

In addition to that said above, you should be able to watch STV2 via Sky if you have it or if you are served bu Virgin Media and have their TV service.

MikeP:

Thank you for this information. Whilst looking at previous posts on this website I found a clue to where to look for technical information on local TV and found the radiation pattern for the Durris local STV signal . It also includes the full Durris radiation pattern ( I think?)https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0032/97736/Comux-Technical-plan-V8.pdf

Rod : Figure 34 in the document you linked to shows the local mux signal being directional towards Aberdeen, to the North East of the Durris, with no signal radiated towards your location to the North West.

I contacted digital co uk to enquire re the STV2 channel. They inform me that Durris transmittor does not
have the signal for the new channel. I cannot access STV2 - do not have Sky and my aerial is located on the outside of the house. I have tried to re-tune the tv but it just does not pick it up. Any help would be appreciated.

Valerie Campbell: Please provide a full postcode so we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter. STV2 is broadcast from Durris, but only in the direction of Aberdeen, so if you're in a different direction from the transmitter you won't be able to receive it. If you don't have Sky or cable, the only other way to watch is via STV's website or STV Player app on phones/tablets and various smart TVs/boxes.

Clark Simpson: STV2 is broadcast from Durris, however the signal is directional towards Aberdeen and will not be receivable in Montrose as you are in almost the opposite direction from the transmitter.
