The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Crystal Palace (Greater London, England) mast?

Mux 2 on ch 22 and Mux C appears to have gone weaker than normal. All the other channels are working as normal. Could this be similar to BBC 2 being weak>?

Jeff:
Thanks for the info. It seems to answer the fact that I have lost my HD channels on two pieces of equipment despite the other signals remaining the same power. I can pick up Sandy Heath on a separate aerial but despite several scans it too ignores HD channels (ch 21+)I believe. I'll have another go. A bit of a pain as it was only a week ago I bought an HD box for Freeview. Worse things happen at sea I guess ;-)
Don't suppose anyone will listen if we complain. Imaging we'll be told to wait.

I cannot get channels such as ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, is this because of the low power ratings due to the engineering works?

I use a normal room aerial, they used to work perfectly.

James: Well it could possibly be, as work is on going there all the time, with any unexpected reductions in power usually only found out about after they happen,(if reported!) although at only 3 miles away from the transmitter it must really be down, unless as I suspect, your signal level wasn't that much above the cut off threshold in the first place, any slight reductions in power having more of a dramatic effect in this type of situation.

Do you know whether the power will be back on maximum any time soon?

Or how long these engineering works will take?

Not sure what to do in this situation.

And it does also seem to say that mux 2 and a to be on low power.

I would hope that, that's the problem.

I have put a old group A aerial in the loft pointing roughly at Sandy Heath and have got channel 21+ (HD TV) OK. So a manual retune and active combiner later and all is now working fine. The other Sandy Heath channels 24/27 are poor quality, channel 31 is nil, channels 40 and 67 no signal from the group A aerial!. So just a few 800 series programmes to be ignored/deleted.

James: Well its anyone's guess! as this will happen as and when necessary, as its not exactly abnormal when pre switchover work is going on.

What you should do though is to keep checking the signal level on Mux Ch22, that being the multiplex you are referring to, signal level / quality indications accessed within the receiving devices tuning menu..

It should be appreciated though that even although it might vanish from your screen its only because it has dropped under the reception threshold of your equipment, and is still being received. (unless the transmitter has been shut down)

any idea when the signal quality of C22 is likely to improve?

Here in Luton, the Crystal Palace HD channels have been gone completely for a couple of days. I have been receiving it fine for over 1 year, but a couple of days ago CH31 had a high signal strength but very poor signal quality, but now CH31 has zero signal strength. I suspect that a Sandy Heath mux moved to the same frequency (CH31) causing the high signal strength but low signal quality. Now it looks like both have been turned off.
But I see no mention of it on here. Yet other people on this link are reporting the same thing: Freeview HD Channels Gone | AVForums.com - UK Online
