PETER MARTIN:

It's not clear from the way you commented, whether it's just the HD mux that's 10-20% or all of them?
You say you've checked the strength at all outlets - how did you do this? What have you got that splits the signal to the various outlets?
Does your set give Quality figures? If so, what have you got for those on each of the UHF multiplexes?

If it's just the HD mux at all outlets and the others are good, you may have marginal reception of the HD mux on UHF C30 - do check that you are still correctly tuned to C30.
As you haven't given a full postcode, we can't check your predicted reception from Crystal Palace, or whether you'd get better reception from an alternative transmitter (eg. Hemel Hempstead).

You mention TV Channel 69, that's LEGEND XTRA which is carried on the Local multiplex. What signal strength do you get for that?

It's also possible you may be suffering some interference, maybe from a new/upgraded mobile phone mast, again a full postcode might enable a check on that.

Planned Engineering is always listed as "Week commencing ..(date)" They don't say which days/times or how long.
I'm afraid Arqiva never give details of the work taking place or how long it's going to take especially as a lot of it may be weather dependant. What we do know is that a lot of main transmitters and some of the larger relays have had significant Planned Engineering over the last 12 months or so. We know that extensive work is involved ensuring that the mast structures remain in good condition and safe, such work involves working at height on stay cables and such like, often close to the antenna when there'd be need to operate at reduced power or have brief interruptions. It's worth remembering that it's a good 10 years since DSO when much important similar work would likely have been carried out, although some may also have been done during 800MHz and 700MHz clearance when major antenna work would have been carried out at many transmitters.

My postcode is NW1 9JN. Sky Arts has recently vanished from Freeview and complete retune has failed to bring it back. All other channels working fine, with strong signal. Why, and how do I get Sky Arts back? Call to Freeview customer service yesterday failed to explain or resolve the problem.

Guy de Jonquieres: You're only 14km away from Crystal Palace and predicted to receive a strong signal. Are you able to receive Sky Mix on LCN 11? Are any other channels missing? Sky Arts swapped places with Pick when Pick became Sky Mix, so if this is the first time you've retuned since then and you are receiving Sky Mix on 11 you should find Sky Arts on 36. It's also worth checking the 800s in case it has ended up there.

Guy de Jonquieres:

It's also worth pointing out that you are surrounded by a lot of mobile phone masts. If you are missing other channels, you may be missing a complete multiplex, which may be due to mobile mast interference.
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which TV channels are carried on which multiplex.

You should have received a postcard from Restore TV, you can put your postcode in at
https://restoretv.uk/post…ure/ to check.
If you find that your are missing complete multiplexes or have reduced signal but especially reduced Quality which should always be 100% (check in your TV tuning section), then you may be advised to contact Restore TV for a Free Filter.

Hello i cannot get London Live.I have fitted two filters.Have done a reset. My post code is LU33QU.
Filters came from restore TV.They said it could be blocked by phone mast so we fitted filters. But cannot get channel 8. Aerial lead comes into lounge one filter before spilter.Lounge tv has channel 8.Lead goes from spilter then outside house then inside loft and down into bedroom. filter fitted on spilter no channel 8 on tv. Lead then goes down inside house into kitchen TV no channel 8.The lead in the loft has been checked all good.It is just channel 8 we cannot get in the kitchen and bedroom. All other channels o.k.

DAVID LITTLE: What is the reason you're using multiple filters? Each time the signal goes through a filter it will introduce some signal loss. Have you tried it with just the filter before the splitter and removing the other filters?

DAVID LITTLE:

Hmm, despite your distance from Crystal Palace, 61 km, you are predicted to get the Local multiplex which carries London Live albeit with a variable signal. It's always possible that signal strength at the time you tuned was poor. Have you ever got London Live at any time previously on all TVs and if so, how reliable was the signal?

You mention that the aerial lead comes into the lounge. Is that straight from the aerial or is there any pre-amp/masthead amp between the aerial and lounge?
Where is the aerial (roof/loft etc) and do you know what type it is and roughly how old it is?

The situation with splitters is not 100% clear Are these splitters with amps in them or are they passive?
I assume the way you've mentioned it, the lead going to the loft then goes to the bedroom where it goes into another filter then another splitter before one output goes to the bedroom TV and the other to the kitchen TV. Does this 2nd splitter have any amp built in?

It's possible that the attenuation of the signal in the cable runs to the loft and then onto the bedroom and kitchen is high enough to reduce the signal for the Local multiplex.
We may get a better feel for this if you do the following -
Look in your Lounge TV Tuning section for Signal Strength and Quality figures for each multiplexes UHF channel and post the figures for each one.
Repeat this for the Bedroom TV and for the Kitchen TV.

Chris.SE: Hi Chris the aerial lead goes from the roof aerial direct to filter then splitter in lounge. The aerial is about 15 years old.V shape then a rod forward with side rods. The V shape at the rear has some rods missing,We did have London live before on all tv's. Signal was good. Now the funny part??the aerial lead goes from the lounge to inside our carport outside the lounge wall. The lead then goes up the wall and above the carport into the loft.In the car port I had a steel trailer propped against the house wall directly behind the lounge tv all TV's perfect.I sold the trailer now no channel 8.
The lounge tv Signal quality 100% signal level 100%.Bedroom Signal quality 91% signal level 30%
Kitchen could not do it .DVB 482.00mz ch22 nil.Sorry could not give correct info.WE are both seniors and I am disabled. Thank you for your help

With the trailer propped against the wall, was there a chance that it was leaning on the cable?
In any event, the fact that you have 100% signal & (importantly) 100% Quality on the lounge TV suggests the possibility of some amplification. Does the splitter in the lounge have a mains supply?

The loss of signal to the bedroom TV down to 30% certainly suggests a problem with the cable going up or the splitter. Try swapping the outputs on the lounge splitter and see what happens to the Signal and Quality figures in the Lounge and Bedroom.
