MikeB: I will check next time it is raining to see if there is a difference, or if it appears before. However, if that was the fault, would it not appear on all stations - it was happening on BBC News and BBC 4, if I recall.
Unfortunately I have no access to the aerial as it a communial aerial in a block of flats across the road to me.

Martin Rosen:
Such events can affect just one multiplex or a few. Now that we know you are on a communal aerial, please check with your neighbours who also use that aerial system and not a satellite dish or cable service. If they are getting the same problems then the aeerial system needs attention so that should be reported to the management of the building. If they are not then it is likely a fault in your system or cables.

London W9 2JD:
Problems with reception since 2nd June 2017. retuned but problem worse with loss of channels (ITVs C4, C5, etc). BBC channels working but other channels intermittent reception (image broken up pixelated). Order of listing of TV and radio channels has changed with new numbering such as 801, 802, etc... . No radio channel reception. 2nd TV retuned which caused loss of all TV Freeview channels and radio channels with no reception. neighbour's TV at same address (same aerial) no reception.
Aerial on roof.

BT Showcase.
I notice that in the Crystal Palace and Talconeston details, it has the wrong information.
I believe it has changed as follows; was Freeview channel 59 (in SD), upto a few weeks ago. It has been been changed to Freeview 115 (in HD).

There seems to be a new - so far unlisted - transponder at 714 MHz (QPSK), but no services on it as yet

RS: I just preparing to install an aerial and get my sky all hooked up. I have multiple tv outlets so will install a lab gear 8 way distribution unit. I'm in streatham area so not far from Crystal Palace. What do you recommend for my choice of aerial and do you think I would need a mast head amplified to keep a good strength to redistribute the signal to the tv outlets throughout house.

In Streatham you will not need an amplifier at all, you will get more than enough signal strength with a roof-top aerial as you are so close to Crystal Palace transmitter. If anything, you may need an attenuator to reduce the signal strength as it should not exceed 85% on any multiplex, but should be more than 60% on HD services and more than 50% on SD ones.
As for type of aerial a Group A or a wideband log-periodic would be suitable - but you don't need a huge one! It may be, just guessing using my local knowledge of South London as you haven't given a full post code, that a 12 element aerial will suffice without any amplification at all but even that may need an attenuator between the aerial and the distribution 'box'. Remember that the distribution box usually has internal amplification anyway, so excess signal strength could be a potential problem.

Andrew Healy:
There is no report of transmission problems at Crystal Palace, there would be millions of complaints if there were.
It is possible that you problem is due to contact corrosion in the aerial plugs and sockets. Start by unplugging all the aerial leads, having noted where they connect. The plug them all back in again and check for ITV on programme number 3.
