Address Bishops Stortford CM234EN.
Have roof mounted aerial pointed pointed towards Crystal Palace.
There are 2 TVs in house, both receiving all freeview channels fine
Also have a Sagemcom recorder box for HD channels. Last night (10pm ish and this morning 7am ish) Sagemcom not picking up any channels properly (some not at all, some pixelated) but both TVs fine. This has happened before in the eveinings generally aftyer 9pm. Aerial goes to Sagemcom box before TV so know that input signal to Sagemcom is at least as good as to TVs. Can the sensitivity of the Sagemcom and TV tuners vary so much?
Thanks,
Ian

- you are not in a good reception area at the moment.

Yes, there can be a great difference in the sensitivity of different receivers.

Hi Briantist,
Thanks for the very swift response.
Yes - I am in a fringe area for the CP transmitter - however reception on my Sony and Philips TV tuners is fine pretty much all the time (even in the evenings when atmospheric pressure is high). Thinking of swapping the Sagemcom box for the (more expensive) Humax. Is there any way of checking the sensitivity of the tuner (eg technical data) without physically connecting it?

Thanks,
Ian

Ian: You can look at the technical specifications, but experience shows that it is often the cheaper boxes that work better in low signal conditions.

I keep losing all BBC transmissions from Crystal Palace. I have retuned my tv and now get Anglian. All other freeview channels are ok. This has been happening over the last few days

I can see everything from Crystal Palace apart from C32- (561.8MHz). This is really annoying - all other channels are perfect - why just this one :-( My post code is N1 5TN

Hi
yesterday (24th April 2011) I woke to find all the ITV channels including channel 4 and channel 5 channels had disapeared. I retuned the digibox as I was told on the freeview website but nothing has happened. They have said it may be something to do with the Crystal palace transmitter. We have had our digibox for 5 years (Panasonic) and live in Islington N1 9PS. Please could you help us as I'm getting the feeling someone wants us to pay more money for these services, when I thought these channels were free anyway. Thanks.

Athena Prinkibas: Nothing at all has or will happen to the Crystal Palace transmitter until Wednesday 4th April 2012.

I would have a look at Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
