I am looking for foreignfreeview channels which are available on Freesat. For example:-
France24
CNN
NHK (Japan)

Does Crystal Palace broadcast same channels as Freesat?

Barry: The complete list of programme channels viewable via Freesat can be seen by opening the undermentioned link, the three mentioned, i.e: France 24 - CNN Europe - NHK (Japan) being on 205 - 207 - 209 respectively.

Satellite channels not included in Freesat's programme guide listings can "sometimes" also be viewed by manually entering the transponder frequency etc used by the programme into the boxes "non-Freesat" tuning mode, although details on what to enter can only be given for specific programmes.

Barry:

Satellite programmes are not delivered from ground-based transmitters such as Crystal Palace. All satellite services are delivered from orbiting satellites over 22,000 miles above the Equator, in the case of the Astra satellites used by both Sky and Freesat they are positioned roughly above East Africa. To receive the Freesat signals you use your carefully aimed dish and not the UHF aerial that you may have that is pointing towards Crystal Palace.

Bill Martin:

It is essential that you provide a full post code so that we contributors can determine where you are in relation to the transmitter and hence find out if there are any particular problems that can affect your reception. Without that, useful assistance is impossible.

Am on the Crystal Palace transmitter and sick and tired of Freeview. Every other day there is a programme update and I retune. Used to have 138 channels, then it was 116 and I retuned again today and it's now just 82. Channels which before were crystal clear (BBC) are now all pixelated whilst other channels (everything on mux 33) have been completely lost and can't be tuned in for love or money.

Some mux are clear one day and then the next they will be barely watchable. It's all one big sadistic lottery, why do the broadcasts keep changing from day to day and why are they watcheable one day and the next completely gone?

Vic: Its like you have a problem with your aerial - check signal strength. If your getting fewer and fewer channels, then something is wrong. Could be a fraying cable.

Thanks MikeB, signal strength and quality varies all the time. Some days it'll be 100%, others it'll drop to barely 10%. Coax cables are all screened as are the wall plates. I'll try to test with an indoor aerial and see how that goes, I don't get why the channels are fine one day and then gone the next. If it was the external aerial deteriorating, surely it'd be getting worse and worse whereas tuning seems to be a lucky dip and sometimes I get 82 odd channels, other times it's 116.

Vic: Sounds odd, but you could have a mixture of two problems. If all your muxes are vanishing, then then that sounds like a failing system. If it comes and goes, could well be something like water in a cable - when it dries out, its fine, but its only going get worse over time.

On the other hand, 100% is far too high - see 'too much of a good thing' on this site. We dont know where you are, so cant say what sort of signal you should get, but look at the possibilities and narrow it down.
