StevensOnln1: The postcode is TS10 2DQ. The coax is about 5m to one TV and 9m to the other TV they are on a passive splitter. I lost the channels after a recent retune.

Dave H:

We assume your aerial is pointing at a bearing of 191 degrees, that's 11 degrees West of due South, for Bilsdale, and the rods should be horizontal.

You are predicted to get good reception of the multiplexes from Bilsdale by both Freeview and the BBC. Those coax lengths should be fine.

As previously mentioned, current weather conditions may be causing interference as well as the possibility of you last retuning when the transmitter work was taking place.

Also you are predicted to be able to get two other transmitters in your location, so your best bet will be to check that you are correctly tuned to Bilsdale's UHF channels and do a manual tune of them rather than an automatic tune. That way, if signals are weak due to interference or transmitter work, you should get tuned to them eventually.

If the problems persists, as mentioned, phone the project restore help line on 0800-121-4828

Arqiva have now confirmed that the PSB3 multiplex carrying HD channels has now transferred to the new mast following engineering work which took place last weekend. See link below for full article.

HD Television services now transmitting from the new mast | Bilsdale Mast: Project Restore

As a reminder, the Project Restore helpline on 0800 121 4828 will close on 7th July, so anybody experiencing reception issues since the new Bilsdale mast came into service on 22nd May should get in touch without delay.

I live in Guisborough, but tuned to Bilsdale to get full Freeview channels. This week I've noticed some channels gone missing. Quest, Yesterday, Greatest Hits, etc, ie ARQ B, all channels I watch! Retuning hasn't helped.

Jim H:

Although not currently listed, there will still be engineering work going on as not all (radio) services & Local multiplex IIRC have been restored.

Also, there has been some quite variable weather related Tropospheric Ducting in recent days which can affect reception because of interference being received from more distant transmitters in Europe or the UK - not all multiplexes are necessarily affected, but this isn't normally sustained for any lengthy periods.

It's never advised to retune when you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures as this will usually just clear correct tuning.
IF you need to retune a specific multiplex in such conditions - which should not be needed if you were correctly tuned before - then stick to a MANUAL tune of the UHF channel for that multiplex so at least you can check you have signal with adequate Quality (or very low errors) before you do so.

Stephen Thomason:

It should be, those 3 are on the Local multiplex which is beamed towards the Middlesbrough area, so unless you are in that direction, you may not get it.
Do you get a Local news channel at LCN 7 or 8 and/or HorrorXtra at LCN69 ?
If not, you aren't getting the Local mux, try a MANUAL tune for it on UHF C30 from Bilsdale, you may get a weaker signal (otherwise if you give a full postcode, we could look at the predictions).

Whoops, there seems to be a bug in the system at present, posts are not returning to the page on which it's posted, hence 4 copies of my last!

Does Bilsdale not transmit Freeview channels 206 or 207?

Stephen Thomason: 206 Pop and 207 Tiny Pop are available to only some viewers of Bilsdale who are in the direction of Middlesbrough.

206 and 207 are on the Local TV multiplex for Middlesbrough which is beamed directionally towards the town, whereas the other, main multiplexes are higher power and in all directions.

I hope that makes sense. Have you received these channels before?
