I live in Nottingham and I have an old standard yagi rooftop aerial pointing at Sutton Coldfield, via which I could receive a barely watchable signal from Belmont (maintaing colour but a lot of noise). I'm now getting a perfect digital reception on channel 22.

Curiously, with an indoor aerial I could get an analogue Belmont reception comparable in picture quality with the rooftop aerial, but the indoor aerial does not pick up the improved digital signal on ch22 - Another example that proves there is a very fine line between perfect digital reception and a black screen.

richard: Yes, it's called the "digital cliff", you either receive the multiplex or you don't. Thus "digital" and "analogue"...

Si Fudge: Don't forget you need a Freeview HD receiver, and not just an HDTV with Freeview.

since the change over yesterday 2.8.11 our tv picture has become dark and slightly fuzzy have carried out many rescans and no improvement - we use bt vision - prior to the digital change our picture was very crisp and clear - also noticed the volume gone down. What is the best way to get or tv picture back to the standard it was. we have roofop aerial which was renewed about years ago.no boosters.

postcode SK17 9TY receiving from BELMONT
Arial is 3 yr old high gain horizontal.
Changeover 3-aug - lost all my BBCchannels after reset. Tried several auto and manual resets.
Box is a SAGEM PVR 6240T
Receiving channels 48,57,66 & 68 all with good signal strength and good signal quality.
Should also get channels 22 &60 according to info on Belmont Transmitter
Channel 22 signal strength 87% Quality 2%
Channel 60 signal strength 64% Quality 2%
Have contacted Sagemcom who say this receiver should have NO problems receiving the new channels and couldn't explain why I was not receiving the reset channels.
Have you any ideas, and is it possible things will corrected themselves after switchover complete.

Roof top aerial, WH, receiving Freeview

I see as part of phase two of the digital switch over there is a significant boost in power. I've read that too strong a signal can cause loss of picture and I'm concerned as my roof top aerial currently has a masthead amp. If I encounter problems can I simply remove the 'antiference p1200' power supply unit from my set-up and all will work OK? Thanks in advance for any advice.
