Iain Davies : Stockland Hill's PSBs are 23, 26, 29 @ 50kW and COMs are 22, 25, 28 @ 25kW.
I have given these channels in ascending order, which is not the same order they are in with respect to the multiplexes.
Taking an address on Liddymore Road as a sample location, it is less than 30 miles from Stockland Hill, bearing 160 degrees. While there is no line-of-sight, when compared to the signal path to Ridge Hill it is much better. Ridge Hill is 66 miles out and at 30 degrees. Considering all the high ground between Newport and Monmouth, you're lucky to receive it at all.

Iain Davies : In addition, almost half the signal path from Ridge Hill is over the Bristol Channel/Severn Estuary, so the varying water level may have an effect on the signal.

Chris.SE: Immediately above the box for posting a comment on this site it advises the viewer to carry out the Freeview reset procedure if having reception problems. This is clearly unhelpful and the opposite advice to that you always give.

Keith Vivian: BBC Reception [bbc.co.uk/reception] reports that the Pwll Glas transmitter is "Off the air due to essential engineering" From 1:01pm on 18th Nov 2024.
SP Energy Networks reports a planned outage at the transmitter's postcode, LL15 2PH (which is shown near the top of this page):

At the time of writing, SP Energy Networks says that the estimated restore time is to be confirmed.

Jim Gray: There has been and might still be engineering works at Durris, so I advise you not to adjust your set or your aerial.
At the time of writing, the Freeview website does not list Durris as having engineering works:

However, referring to the page on this site for Durris, there have been postings from Transmitter engineering every week since early October. These postings are taken automatically from the aforementioned Freeview page. The latest posting is from this Monday, so Durris must have been listed by Freeview as having engineering works on Monday. That it is now not listed, we don't know that it hasn't been removed prematurely.

Jim Gray: With respect to reception along your road, at 100m or so out is the ground on which Prioryhill sits, to the rear of the medical centre. This is a higher than where you are and it is covered in trees. On Google Street View, standing on North Deeside Road, I can see the trees at the front of Prioryhill are very tall and they are right in your signal path.

Jim Gray: Further to the above, I see the section of your road that is your postcode is sloped, as well as the wider area not being flat. With this in mind it is more difficult to say which ground is higher as this varies along the road.
That said, the trees at the front of Prioryhill (the side facing North Deeside Road) and the side facing the medical centre being so tall do look as if they may be in the signal path to some degree for all properties in your postcode.

This is an independent website not connected with any broadcasting company. We therefore can only work with the information we have.
Above, I advised you to check that ITV1 is tuned to UHF channel 21. This was on the understanding your aerial is directed to the Aberdare transmitter. Your comment about reduced number of channels suggests that you aren't using the Aberdare transmitter as it is a full-service one, and therefore that you shouldn't be tuned to C21 for ITV1. To know which channel you should be tuned to we need to know which transmitter it is.
There are a number of relay transmitters in the area that carry just the PSB multiplexes, meaning only BBC, ITV1, S4C, Channel 4, Channel 5, ITV3 and some other SD channels, as well as all the HD channels. It sounds like you may on one of these transmitters.
If your aerial points to a different transmitter, then I would check that you are in fact tuned to it and not another one, such as Aberdare. Advice on which this should be can only be given with knowledge of your location, preferably in the form of postcode. A not uncommon issue is that the receiver has tuned to the signal from another transmitter where one is available, and that this results in poor reception. As such, this is one of the first things to check.
