Below are all of Andy Ell's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.NHK World on Freesat. A while back there were comments posted about the style/content of some of the programming from NHK International. I just wondered if anyone else has been watching the "March to Recovery" series, dealing with aspects of the tsunami and earthquake, the effects on communities, groups, and individuals. Sometimes very powerful to watch, it is still running on Sundays, and back programmes can probably be seen via their website.

BBC plc, 2017
What a nightmare! How much would be lost forever. All of BBC Radio, much sports coverage, arts, culture, music, drama, but also just how independent would BBC plc be?
Yet I fear it could happen. The erosion of Freeview is a sign of what the future might hold. Your spoof is a timely nightmare...

DAB in car aerial tweak. I kept the magnetic aerial on the parcel shelf, as putting it on the roof made no improvement here on the Isle of Thanet, Kent. Always lost signal at the most interesting bit. However I now keep it on the inside of a round metal flan dish in the same place on the parcel shelf, and very rarely have any dropouts. Result!

There is a problem with civil liberty. Although for many people, myself included, TV is an 'essential service', it is not a matter on which life depends, and does not have to be watched or provided. For those who do not watch TV, (and nobody has to) imposing a 'tax for TV services' is unfair and unjustified. At present no one has to pay a license fee if they don't watch TV. So if you choose not to put a car on the road, you don't have to pay road fund license. (I realise do we pay tax towards roads through general taxation.) The big unsolved problem seems to me to be how to fund the BBC in some other way? In my view it has to be a choice, not imposed.

Hi, re Freesat ITV HD. We have picture and sound breakup on ITV HD only, both on our Humax box and on our Sony TV. Any advice would be welcome! The dish installer was aware of the problem but had nothing of offer...

Euronews seems to have been removed from Freesat and Freeview platforms as of this morning. On freest, ch. 204 is reported as "unavailable". Have they failed to pay their rent, or is it technical?

Euronews - there is also a live feed on you tube. Shame the owners of euronews gave no public explanation tho!

Westgate-on-sea
hello, re "Yesterday" tv channel 19 on Freeview. My TV has auto tuned BBC1 and ITV from Sudbury but my nearest transmitter is Dover, and our rooftop aerial points at Dover. We live in Thanet. BBC1 and ITV from Dover break up and yield lower signal strengths than those from Sudbury. I'm thinking of turning our aerial round to get the better signals from Sudbury. But if we do that, will we risk losing "Yesterday"? I have not figured out how to tell which transmitter is supplying ch 19, but the signal strength is 90-92 percent, like BBC 1 and ITV from Sudbury. The house was unoccupied during digital switchover.
