Waltham (Leicestershire, England) Full Freeview transmitter

AM on 2nd lost Ceebies etc.(mux B) due to heavy pixallation and broken up sound - interestingly set top box still reported good signal, retuned and regained channels. However by early evening had same problem on Channel 4 et al. (Mux 2). Retuned and lost BBC (Mux 1). Just reset and retuned (~8pm) and currently have regained normal service on all mux's/channels normally available in my area (Kettering northants). Hopefully atmospherics et al are back to normal now.

Okay so like others here I lost the main ITV channels during the week. Got the notice to retune as BBC red button had moved. So after midday today retuned (after deleting all channel information etc.). On first retune got a list of 'unknown' channels with no information. On second retune got channesl with information but only main ITV channels were viewable, BBC channels pixellated etc.. Third retune whilst got a whole set of channels in the 80n space. The 801 BBC1 & 802 BBC 2 channels work fine. So it looks as if the current re-jig of channels and power levels is causing problems - as I'm probably picking up some channels from Sandy Heath (I'm within a mile of being equi-distant between the two, but Sandy Heath is masked by the houses/hill behind me.

Equipment: Humax PVR-9150T

I really dislike the form transmission information is being provide currently! Whilst it may look nice on the screen it doesn't easily print out or support cross checking with other transmitters.

What I want is the following information in tabular form for each transmitter, that can be easily printed on A4 (landscape or portrait): Mux. broadcast Channel and Frequency being used. For each mux. the stations in the mux. and their assigned number.

This makes it very easy (on the Humax PVR) to determine which channel/frequency my PVR has assigned to programme guide channel 1 BBC1 (for example) and hence permit me to look up the originating transmitter and determine if it is the one I'm expecting.

This shouldn't be too difficult as I have such a print-off from 2004 when I originally installed my freeview aerial etc.

Once I got the channel details sorted the problem andhence the solution was obvious!
The problem was caused by substantially increasing the power output of the Sandy Heath transmitter (x8) at the same time as requiring users to retune on the neighbouring Waltham transmitter; which did not get an increase in power.

Hence doing an automatic retune which will typically scan from the lowest channel through to the highest will pick up channels on the Sandy Heath transmitter (yes my aerial did this even though it is ~90 degrees out of alignment for Sandy Heath!)

The solution was to manually scan each channel being used by Waltham, thereby bypassing/ignoring the channels used by Sandy Heath. Interestingly, if the transmitter planners had thought about things they could of delayed the (largely unnecessarily large) power increase of Sandy Heath by a couple of weeks and avoided the problems being encountered by users of Waltham and reported here.

For those living South East of Waltham a quick check to see if you are now getting the wrong signal is to look at the signal details of BBC1:

BBC1 (Mux 1/PSB1/BBCA) on Sandy Heath is on frequency C27 (522.0MHz) whereas on Waltham it is on C49 (698.0MHz).

Been getting problems, especially in the evenings, getting a signal for any channel on the ArqA mux.

PVR's signal monitor indicates the Feb-2018 re-allocation didn't happen.
Channel, Mux, Signal Strong, Quality
C49 BBCA 70 100
C54 D3+4 71 100
C58 BBCB 70 0
C29 SDN 67 100
C56 ArqA 65 0
C57 ArqB 68 100
Attempted retune of ArqA on C56 and C25 resulted in no stations being found.

Interestingly, getting HD channels (BBCB) mux okay, despite the above signal quality reading...

Aside:
The coverage checker Coverage Checker - Detailed View
is incorrect with respect to Sandy Heath signal quality being better than Waltham; we are the wrong side of the hill...

Just setting up my new HD Humax.
Not seeing any signal on:
C35 (PSB3/BBCB)
C37 (COM5/Arqa)
C55. (COM7)
I didn't get any signal on my previous Humax.
Be interested to know if I need to be doing something different, as Freeview say for my address I should be receiving these mux's from Waltham.
