R Murchie: Ok, so they would advertise the move with great fanfare...and then what?

Most equipment automatically retunes itself anyway, so the only people that would have noticed would be those whose equipment had not do so, and a simple retune fixed that. There appears to be some problems with Panasonic PVR's (software glitch?), but telling everyone wouldn't have had much effect.

Remember when everyone was told about 4G, and then started reporting problems with it...when it hadn't even been tested.

Peter: If your getting low signal strength, then your system is NOT fine. Check for loose connection, frayed cable and water getting into the sytem. And masthead amps do go, including the power.

4G is something everyone worries about, but it causes interference, not low signal. And why now?

Check your system.

Michael Dicker: If your getting a 100% signal, then by definition, you dont need one. Which is hardly surprising, since your just 8km from the transmitter!

You should actually be 75% signal strength, and 100% quality - the reverse of what you've got. Search for 'too much of a good thing' on this website, and get an attenuator or two - they are pretty cheap on Amazon in various strengths.

Nev Jack: Aerials have a limited working life anyway, so most will have been replaced by natural wastage. And if you cannot pick up a signal with your old aerial, I understand there is a scheme to help you.

Besides, if you have a mobile phone, you need bandwidth, and that has to come from somewhere. And we all have mobile phones....

Gillian Calliste: Your aerial has a problem, and you need to check the system, and if needed, get someone professional to look at it. Start with the aerial lead at the back of the TV.

Steve clifford: For dipping into Sky channels without full subscription, then try Now TV. It will be cheaper, and although apparently you have to be careful about them rolling over your monthly subscription, it might suite.

If you have a smart LG TV, then the app is on the TV, and from this year, most smart Samsungs. Or just buy a Now TV box (a cutdown Roku), which might be as little as about twelve quid with a pass.

Add that to a Humax Freeaat recorder, and your sorted.

Dawn Etchell: Check your signal strength - if its low the signal is dropping out, and the most likely explaination is that there is a fault with your systems. If its that, then start with your cables and connections.

Clem Fisher: If the signal used to be OK, but now isn't, wouldn't that point to a problem with your system, rather than the transmitter? In which case, the extra booster is essentially a patch.

Tony jones: BBC4 HD is on the Com 8 mux, which that transmitter does not have, not the Com7. But it does have pretty much everything else, and of course is not a 'light' transmitter. So yes, it is officially a full transmitter.

Paul: Check your signal strength and system - too high or low strength can cause breakup.
