UKTV G2 not coming to Freeview
UKTV today refused to confirm the "speculation" that the unpopular UKTV Bright Ideas channel will be removed from Freeview and replaced with entertainment channel UKTV G2.
Bright Ideas, which shares a Freeview slot with the soon-to-be-replaced f-tn channel, has been under repeated Internet speculation - perhaps wishful thinking from viewers - that it be replaced with the G2 channel which carries music, quizzes and popular infotainment formats such as Top Gear.
It has also been suggested that the channel slot be sold to UKTV's parent company, Virgin Media, so the "Virgin1" channel can broadcast 24 hours a day on Freeview from the autumn.
However, most viewers seem to want to ditch the shopping channels, and have more entertainment choice - in an ideal world they would like Ideal World to disappear and have full-time UKTV Gold and full-time Virgin 1.
