The West Midlands will enter the digital TV switchover phase on the 7th of September but despite this, 32,000 homes still arent ready for it. Peter Last, chairman of the Walsall Pensioners Convention, has stressed that the majority of the 32,000 homes are most likely occupied by elderly people who wont know what to do once the first phase of the switchover begins in a few weeks time. The entire UK is on track to be completely digital by 2012. - broadbandwatcher.co.ukwww.broadbandwatcher.co.ukDAB in Australia growing faster than UK - James Cridland
The CRA compares this to internet radio, which shows 5 hours 40 minutes listening time. Im unclear what this time period refers to, but its interesting that in Australia, internet radio is doing considerably worse than DAB. That phrase was coined, I should explain for the benefit of those unfamiliar with the chaotic days of the Major administration, by the first of Hunt's predecessors, David Mellor, who in his short tenure, revealed himself to be a big fan of fun. Last week the government named 65 suitable homes for local stations. Shock, awe: British government agrees that copyright has gone too far
The British government today pledged PDF to enact significant changes to copyright law, including orphan works reforms and the introduction of new copyright exceptions. Responding to an independent study done earlier this year, the government has also endorsed the creation of a digital copyright exchange to facilitate licensing. This is evidently not referring to the power of copyright holders tocompel individual ISPs to block infringing sites after a lawsuit, but to a more comprehensive system whereby the government maintains a list of sites that all ISPs in the country would be required to block. - arstechnica.comarstechnica.comFriday 05 August 2011, AM

MediaTel: Newsline: Is the Grand Prix deal the shape of things to come at the BBC?
Disgruntled petrol heads were quick to work through the implications that from next year the BBC will be showing only half the schedule of F1 races live with Sky showing the lot. Think how much money could be saved if you just sat Paxman down to do a single interview and ditched the rest.
