Bauer turns off AM radio services in the West Midlands – RadioToday

The frequencies were most recently used by Absolute Radio Classic Rock but were once home to local services such as BRMB, Beacon Radio, Wyvern, WABC, Xtra AM, Gold and Free Radio 80s. Bauer declined to comment on the reason for the closures when contacted by RadioToday, but did confirm there are no plans to switch off any further services. BBC local radio stations in England will lose 139 jobs as the network keeps the simplified schedules it created in March and adds a new all-England late show. Helen Thomas held an all-staff virtual meeting on Thursday morning to communicate the changes with staff. Tim Davie: BBC executive named director general

Davie has been promoted from chief executive of BBC Studios, the commercial subsidiary that sells BBC and other British programmes abroad. He became acting director general after the resignation of George Entwistle in 2012, and will now replace Tony Hall.
