Map of all DAB transmitters
You can click on a transmitter group symbol to see all the masts in that county or area, or click on a single transmitter to see the coverage area. Due to the large number of radio transmitters, many have been grouped into counties or administrative areas for ease of viewing. What do the map symbols mean?

Colin D: The current DAB coverage expansion programs for local DAB and BBC national services are due to be completed this autumn. Unfortunately dates are not usually announced in advance for any particular transmitter to go live.

Don't know what is going on with DAB radio in Hull area. Only 28 stations left! No Viking 2&3, no Gold, no Absolute classic Rock, no Planet Rock. Very, very disappointed. does anyone know when these stations will be back?

Edwin: Hi, Edwin. The a516digital website says, " Absolute Radio has confirmed that its 1960s music station Absolute 60s is to be withdrawn from five local DAB multiplexes starting from Tuesday 23rd April. Sister station Absolute Classic Rock is also being withdrawn." These are cutbacks that the Absolute Radio company has decided that it needed to make. I also found the following on radionow.co.uk, which would suggest that Hull listeners sshould have done a retune on their DAB radios before the end of last month, "Tuesday, 23rd August 2016
Get ready to retune for Viking FM, BBC Radio Humberside as part of digital radio channel switch: Gold, Absolute Radio 90s, Kiss Fresh and other local DAB digital radio stations are on the move in North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, Kingston upon Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire.
Digital radio listeners will need to retune their DAB digital radios on the evening of 31st August 2016 to keep hearing the bundle of local radio stations for Humberside. These include Absolute Classic Rock, Absolute Radio 90s, BBC Radio Humberside, Capital, Gold, Kiss Fresh, Smooth, Viking FM, Viking 2 and Viking 3."
As far as Planet Rock is concerned, this station came off the wholly national Digital One multiplex back in March of this year and moved on to the Sound digital multiplex which is not allowed to have transmitters on the East coast of England due to the fact that they would interfere with stations across the North Sea in Europe. I hope this post answers your queries, but to get some of your stations back you definitely need to carry out a retune on your DAB radios. Richard, Norwich.

Colin D: Hi, Colin. The current roll-out of new DAB transmitters is due for completion by the end of this month, so hopefully, Linford Wood will be on air by then. Richard, Norwich. PS. Are there no other DAB transmitters you could receive in your area, such as Bow Brickhill, for example?

Richard Cooper: hi Richard, the reason you give for lack of transmitters in the east due to interference, have you any idea why this wasn't a problem before? The D2 transmitters that do exist seem to be less powerful than D1 anyway, I don't understand it. Can I ask if you have seen that information officially stated anywhere?
I'm just trying to understand it! It's obviously not the issue in many of the other areas with no D2, I'm just wondering how genuine a reason it is.

Richard Cooper: There are several SDL transmitters on the East coast and various others with clearance for block 11A. In particular Belmont and High Hunsley which both have Hull within their coverage areas. There are actually 75 transmitter sites which have been cleared by Ofcom for the second national DAB commercial multiplex, however SDL have made a commercial decision to use only 45 of them at launch. I'll try and find the original source and post a link to it here.

Richard Cooper: Here is the link, there are actually far more transmitter on the list than I remembered, including numerous sites in East Anglia, Devon/Cornwall and other areas not currently covered by Sound Digital. These areas could receive coverage in future, but only if the multiplex owners consider it commercially viable.

Richard Cooper: Hi Richard, thank you for your reply. Obviously I've had my tuner (Marantz, no cheap stuff) retuned a couple of times after I've heard the advertisement about it, but I only get 28 stations (with an outdoor DAB aerial). I've tried an indoor aerial to see if it would make any difference, but I receive even less with that. Yes, we do have an awful lot of useless BBC stations, but still no Gold and Viking. I thought there might be still some hick-ups going on, but I can't find any information about that.
All I can do in the mean time is listen to those stations on-line.
Do you know if something will change, or is it time to put the tuner on eBay and say farewell to DAB?
