Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Nine Barrow Down (Dorset, England) mast?

DAB: Slightly reduced power due to a fault from 18 Nov 11:14 until 18 Nov 11:39. . BBC

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Jan Davies: Hi Jan. I was indeed aware that there was a massive petition from Planet Rock listeners. Bearing in mind you've already approached Ofcom, do you think that people should start lobbying Bauer Radio instead, to encourage them to put the Sound Digital Multiplex on to more DAB transmitters? Richard.

Jan Davies: Hi, again Jan. I've just discovered that the Sound Digital multiplex is transmitted from the Poole DAB transmitter on mux 11A. This may be beyond the reach of our friends in Bovington, however they could do a manual tune of VHF Band III, Block11A, just to have a go and see if they have any luck in retrieving Planet Rock! Regards, Richard.

Richard Cooper: HI Richard, my car DAB is tuned to 11A and it doesn't pick up Planet Rock until I'm about an hour away from home (I'm in East Anglia).

Richard Cooper: Hi Richard, I was sincerely hoping that the petition would do that:-( I have spoken to quite a few people at the head of Bauer and not really received the truth about why they did it. I've written to Paul Keenan again only this morning. They have not, in the 3/4 months since the campaign started, offered any grain of hope whatsoever. I've tried (again multiple times) the Culture Dept and their ministers, the ASA (regarding the fact we were hearing 'there's never been a better time to buy digital radio' ads on the station they knew we were losing), various rock-loving MPs, all the press in each affected area, the national press, various consumer programmes, etc. I've been relentless with it and I'm knackered! It's very hard to get anyone high-profile or official to help at all.
Feel free to email your disgust to paul.keenan@bauermedia.co.uk !

Re Rock Music on FM in any format . Just the other day a comment on You Tube during a Punk / Metal Blog from the united states highlighted just how ignored the Heavy Rock / Metal even Punk scene or genre is in English ( at least ) radio. We are no longer living in a country where a few bands form a cult scene as in the late 1970s or early 80s because it's 40 years after the NWOBHM and 50 years after the likes of Sabbath & Zeppelin were getting popular . these acts are influential legends plus the literally hundreds of thousands of Metal bands unknown by many have very large listenership , sell out huge stadiums and sell millions of downloads across the world - because this music is as popular as Jazz , Country , Classic Pop or Classical but apart from Planet Rock ( which in my experience only repeated the big hits by Queen or Metallica or Greenday ) there's not and hasn't been a National station which plays just rock music which appears almost Discriminatory. Scrap Heart bring on Jonesey as in LA .

PS maybe Planet Rock has a more diverse playlist nowaday so well done for your efforts. How these countless generic stations playing the same pop tunes by the same acts from the 80s make any money I'll never know . Rock Music deserves more than just on line accessibility. Jan Davies: Richard Cooper: S.J.Gale: et al:

The real issue is that the SDL multiplex (Block 11A: 216.928 MHz) is not broadcast from enough DAB transmitters. Bauer have a significant number of stations on the multiplex which they jointly own with Arqiva and Wireless (https://www.wirelessgroup.co.uk/about/ ).

According to Arqiva - Following expansion in 2018 aggregate UK coverage was increased to 83%. So as far as the SDL multiplex is concerned, nothing hax been done since 2018.
There have of course been various local commercial multiplexes and small scale DAB multiplexes added over the years, but nothing on a national scale, not even (as I understand it) an expansion of the BBC's main multiplex on 12B and no Local multiplexes added to improve (or add) coverage of BBC :Local stations where they are closing down MW transmitters.

So it may be worth campaigning with Arqiva (radio@arquiva.com) and Wireless (info@wirelessgroup.co.uk) with regard to expanding coverage of the SDL multiplex, a well as perhaps hassling DCMS and it's members as well as your Local MP about the general improvements in DAB coverage that are needed.
