Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) mast?

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Can anyone tell me if Emily Moor transmitter is having any problems, as LBC radio has been reporting no service for the last couple of weeks on all my DAB radios despite retuning them.

I've lost BBC Radio Humberside from my DAB radio located in Armley, Leeds today.
Has the service been removed?

Neil Thompson:

BBC Humberside is carried on the local multiplex Block 10D: 215.072 MHz operated by Bauer. Transmitters that carry it will be to the east of you, it's not carried on Emley Moor apparently. You are most likely well outside the normal coverage area, the nearest transmitter could be at High Hunsley, but there may be a low power relay a bit closer.

Check you haven't lost any other stations on the multiplex such as Viking FM. Try manual tuning as automatic scans may miss weaker signals

Additionally, there are three local TV channels within the area Emley Moor covers. These are on different channels and are as follows:

- Leeds local multiplex transmitted from Emley Moor in a northerly direction towards Leeds, so may be available to places in-between and the surrounding area: UHF channel 39.

- Sheffield: For those in the Sheffield area with aerials directed at Emley Moor, the local Sheffield multiplex broadcasts from Grenoside on UHF channel 31.

- York: For those in York with aerials directed at Emley Moor, the local York multiplex broadcasts from Bilbrough on UHF channel 42.
