Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Basingstoke (Hampshire, England) mast?

No problems on any service. BBC

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Chris.SE: hi there must be a problem with dab in Basingstoke as when the clocks changed I cannot receive any capital station and others are very hit and miss. I live in Oakley to give you some idea of area.

Jenny :

Are you still having problems? Have you got an problems with the BBC multiplexes?
I can't find any BBC reports about problems either at the Basingstoke or Hannington transmitters either of which you might receive, but in current circumstances updated reports might get delayed.
DAB is transmitted as Single Frequency Networks (SFNs) which means the transmitters have to be synchronised otherwise "dead" spots can occur, it's possible those transmitters have lost sync because of the clock change (shouldn't happen but these things do!).

If you still have problems you can try contacting the following -

Jenny:

Update. Just been reading about a historic problem where some sets hadn't correctly updated for the GMT/BST time changes and this affected reception of stations. One of the sets was a Roberts Gemini CRD26 with firmware 1.31.1.9-1 I assume later firmware fixes the issue.

But that doesn't mean that other makes of set or models don't have the same problem. Apart from hassling the manufacturer if it's a more recent set, there are two possible "fixes" depending on the set.

Unplug it from the mains for more than 10 seconds - and not running on any battery (backup) presumably.
Tune to an FM station (if the set has FM) that doesn't have a DAB equivalent if the set auto-switches to DAB if it's a better signal!

Nothing like making it easy!
