Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Sandale (Cumbria, England) mast?
UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Good morning all.
I live in Haltwhistle which has very poor DAB and FM coverage at the best of times.
I had got myself fixed up with working FM receivers indoors, but it was a struggle.
Of late - maybe the last three weeks I have seen complete loss of any acceptable quality of FM transmission from Sandale.
Are they maintaining the mast or something?

Hi. It took a bit of digging to find any information, but apparently there has been some essential engineering going on at Sandale and there has been reduced power at times affecting both FM and DAB transmissions.
On top of which, current weather conditions have periodically been affecting Radio signal propagation from time to time which won't necessarily help either!
Yes unfortunately you seem to be just outside a reliable coverage area for FM an d DAB from Sandale!
I presume you know you can get the BBC stations on Freeview, not always convenient of course.
