By providing a full postcode (such as W1A 1AA), national grid reference (for example SE123456) or latitude, longitude pair (like 54, -0.5) this page will provide a map, terrain plot and detailed information of the location showing the UK and RoI television transmitters that it is possible you receive Freeview, Freeview HD, Youview, BT TV and Saorview from.
(Don't know your postcode? Find it at Post Office Postcode finder).
UK Free TV uniquely shows you transmitter coverage maps, aerial to transmitter terrain plots, the closest 10 mobile phone masts (for possible 5G-at-800 interference) as well as tabulated information (sorted by direction, by received signal strength, by frequency, by service names or by transmitter name).

PSB Channels have been disrupted (and are at this moment 31st October1558 - down since 1555) several times in the last 24 Hours, with long periods of no signal at all. This is not a specific to one property, but experienced also by my neighbours. We do NOT share aerial installations

Only just found this response, David Lindsay: thank you very much, this is the information I was seeking.
The 'Region setting' was not enough to overide the NW selection but I'd forgotten the 'remove aerial for the first lot of channels', as advised by the last aerial man.
I have printed off your information and will store it in 'safe place'.
Thanks again; Jack

I live in Newhaven, the Newhaven transmitter is a so called light transmitter and we can only receive about 8 Freeview channels, due to the geographical location of Newhaven in a valley) very few people can receive Whitehawk (The Brighton Full transmitter), given that new Freeview channels are appearing all over the place now, is there any danger that the Newhaven transmitter will be upgraded? I've tried contacting Freeview who say my beef is with Ofcom so I tried contacting them but they don't return calls, what is a body to do?

Try writing to Ofcom - but don't hold your breath. Look at Contacting Ofcom | Ofcom for their contact details.

I suggest you contact a local aerial contractor to have your aerial system checked - at a cost.
