By providing a full postcode (such as W1A 1AA), national grid reference (for example SE123456) or latitude, longitude pair (like 54, -0.5) this page will provide a map, terrain plot and detailed information of the location showing the UK and RoI television transmitters that it is possible you receive Freeview, Freeview HD, Youview, BT TV and Saorview from.
(Don't know your postcode? Find it at Post Office Postcode finder).
UK Free TV uniquely shows you transmitter coverage maps, aerial to transmitter terrain plots, the closest 10 mobile phone masts (for possible 5G-at-800 interference) as well as tabulated information (sorted by direction, by received signal strength, by frequency, by service names or by transmitter name).

Eve: The tuner in the Samsung should come up first automatically. Its only if you switch on the Humax will the TV then go to that source. So make sure there is an aerial lead coming from the back of the Humax (the out) into the back of the TV.
I dont know why your TV isn't picking up the Ext 2, but frankly, if you have HDMI imputs on both the box and the TV, you should be using HDMI - its a better (HD) picture and is a more reliable connection.

I had a good selection of Freeview channels until over a month ago and then I lost a number of channels including Dave and Drama.... Troubleshooted but that didn't solve anything.

Lesley: Should the troubleshooting measures referred to have involved retuning?, then this action has possibly been carried out whilst maintenance work was being carried out on the Crystal Palace transmitter, the effect of being to delete the programmes already stored in the tuner, but with them not being reloaded into the guide list.
You should try resetting your TV (or box) followed by carrying out another retune, "reset" also known as "default setting" / "first time installation" etc.
However, if, as it would appear, you reside in an apartment block? then you will likely be connected into a communal aerial system, therefore it would be prudent to check with a neighbour to ascertain as to whether or not they are able to receive these two programmes, Drama being on the same transmitter as ITV3 (COM4 - C25), and with Dave being on the same transmitter as Pick TV (COM5 - C22).
Further advice dependant on feedback.

Eve: I think your problem could be a software error with the Humax box when in standby mode, this has been rectified with the latest update from Humax, which should have downloaded off air last week, only works if you recieve a good signal on hd channels, alternatly go to the humax web site to downoad new software and instructions how to update the Humax box, worked for me as i had the same problem

Chaneels are always disappearing in Herne Bay, so why does this site always say there are no problems or engineering work? The channels are transimitted from Dover, even though there is a nearer transmitter. It seems obvious to me there must be a problem with the Dover transmitter so why don't they do something about it. As it is all managed apparently by the BBC they should sort it out seeing as they charge enough for tv licences!

I'm afraid you may have a fault with your equipment as there are no other reports from the area of such problems.
Please check that ypur aerial has not become misaligned, that the aerial connections to the TV set are in good condition and correctly inserted in the sockets. Also chack that the cables have not become damaged.
Yopu should also check with neighbours to seeif their Freeview (not Sky or Freesat) services are OK.

I am in fife, nearest freeview transmitters are Craigkelly and Blackhill.
Since started using freeview I am prompted to rescan every one or two weeks, and after each one it is like playing "hunt the HD station channels" as they are never the same twice in a row.
My question is,Why the need for so many rescans and the constant change of HD channel number changes ? eg ch101 to ch801 etc.
thanks

Will Calder: HD channels are in the 10x and 11x range and they are never in the 800 range as that is where receivers put other channels that are usually duplicates. So for some reason your receiver is putting the HD services in the 800s rather in their native positions.
The reason for retunes is probably because the broadcasters are forever adding new services and removing ones. These aren't the mainstream ones so the message is generally a nuisance. With PVRs it means loss of programmes set to record.
But since the broadcasters started retunes they have become more and more prevalent -- like an addiction you might say.
I'm not familiar with many receivers, more a technical bod, so is there an option in the set-up which allows you to turn off the annoying retune notifications?
