I have the same problem - I could get this mux fine until today when it shifted from ch50 to ch63.

I have an old aerial but I believe it to be a wideband one, but I did wonder if its age was an issue. However I don't think it can be, seeing as people with new aerials can't receive this mux now either!

It looks like there's a transmitter fault.

I tried manually searching for channels on ch63 and it found nothing.

I'm a bit concerned what will happen to Arqiva A next June. It's currently on ch54 but will have a permanent home of ch60 from next June. Will we all have the same problems with ch60 that we're currently having with ch63? :S

Dave, interesting points. The question is, if they have dumped ArqB on a sub-standard mast, will they leave it there, and/or will they be moving other muxes to that mast at the final situation?

John: I agree they're useless, they tried to get me to phone an 0845 number too but I was wary of doing so as I guessed I'd just be told standard stuff about retuning. Looks like I was right not to phone up judging by your experience!

Is there any way of testing if my aerial can even receive UHF channels that high? (It should do as it's wideband but it is quite old.)

I tried checking the signal on other random channels in the 40s and 50s that aren't used, and they were about 2% too - but that's presumably because there's nothing broadcasting on them (in my area, at least).

UHF channels that I receive well have a strength of about 85% and quality of 98%. The only lower one is 54 which has a strength of about 50% and quality of about 90%.

I notice the post where people were discussing it on the Digital UK Anglia Facebook wall has now been removed!!!! At least it doesn't work for me any more - Incompatible browser | Facebook

I already use a booster with my aerial as I've found it always has made a good difference to digital channels, but no luck with ch63. Also tried it with no booster and no luck again. I'm in mid-Essex, so probably in the wrong direction from the mast or the signal's too weak. Joke and Digital-mUKup don't care.

Btw, where's the info where you can see what strength (in Watts) the signal is and will be? I found some stuff on the Sudbury page on here, but it just says the current situation and not what the situation will be (or indeed has been).

Trevor: Was your old aerial a narrowband/grouped one or a wideband one? I'm assuming the former?

Dale, I think it has been pushed up to 2.2kW. I don't understand why most people could get it before when it was broadcasting on just 1.1kW though. I know it was on a channel in the 50s then, and now it's moved to the 60s, but I think we've established that those affected have got wideband aerials, so the frequency's not an issue.

I think the most plausible theory is that ArqB's not being broadcast in an omnidrectional and/or if it is, then the fact it's on a smaller mast now (and is therefore lower down, presumably) is meaning it's difficult to pick up.

Digital UK and/or Arqiva don't seem to care, and are erroneously suggesting people get their aerials replaced when they already have new wideband aerials (maybe they don't care because they want to generate some business for the aerial business, who knows). I guess those without ArqB will just have to hope that they can get it back when the COM muxes get moved onto the main mast - and are broadcast at full power - from next June.
