Peter Henderson: Perhaps they have not updated their system. UTV legally has the allocation for a slot on the Freeview HD multiplex, as it is the "Channel 3 licence holder" in the province.

Peter Henderson: If UTV were definitely not going to provide a Freeview HD service, I would have thought that Ofcom would have made the slot available for the other PSBs to bid for.

Jamie Skinner: Ofcom can't stop interference from LTE happening, it's a radio signal and Ofcom does not have the ability to re-write the laws of physics.

However, as detailed above in the article, Ofcom is providing mitigation by requiring filters to be provided on the transmitters and requiring the 4G licence holders to provide filters for the very small number of homes that will require them AT NO COST to the householder.

ronan o dwyer: Saorsat is a satellite service and has nothing to do at all with terrestrial transmitters.

Soarview, however, can be watched from NI using a Freeview HD in some areas, as Freeview HD boxes can display all of the Soarview channels, and you won't be limited to three channels in SD.

Graham: It is legally forbidden for the output levels of any transmitter to be reduced before switchover. This has never happened.

If you have issues, they will be related to reception, rather than transmission.
