Loft aerials are not suitable for reliable Freeview reception, you should mount the aerial ont he roof.

Your TV licence pays for BBC services only, and you have all of these.

If you could provide a full postcode it may be possible to give you more specific information.

Brian: The signal path is uneffected, however, the usual issue is rainwater getting into your cables.

Paul Camp: I would check the Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice in the first instance, but you might find that as C31 is now used at Sandy Heath - which is 180 degrees from Crystal Palace at your location - you may have problems with Freeview HD until switchover.

john: This would normally mean your dish is pointing at a satellite, just not the correct one.

Nick: No, you don't pay for Freeview. You pay for the BBC services which are on various platforms including Freeview, satellite, cable and online.
