Dave Hunter: You have not provided a postcode, so it hard to be sure, but you may have too much signal from the transmitter. If you have a booster or amplifier, remove it from your system and rescan.

Geoff G: If you aerial lead is old, it could very well have decayed. If you can, replace it with satellite-grade cable, as this has much better shielding, which keeps out interference.

phillip wigley: People often find that their systems are overloaded by the new high power transmissions. If you have an amplifier or booster in your system, you will have to remove it. If you don't, you may have to fit an attenuator to lower the signal level.

Helen: You are not predicted to be in a good Freeview reception area, and you are not expected to even have "marginal" reception of the ArqA and ArqB multiplexes until 2012.

You would probably be best advised to switch to Freesat if you want more channels - see Compare Freeview Light and Freesat TV | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

phillip wigley: The BBC A multiplex is broadcasting at 50W, the old mutliplex 1 was broadcasting yesterday at 10kW - this is five times (or 7dB) increase in power. BBC TWO no longer broadcasts on analogue.

You certainly do not need an amplifier, you are in a prime reception area.

phillip wigley: The BBCA multiplex is now broadcasting on the old ITV1 analogue frequency, to allow ITV1 to continue on analogue for two more weeks, it has swapped to the old BBC TWO analogue frequency.
