Joe Pavitt: Yes, it is all taken automatically from the .CSV files provided by Ofcom - Ofcom | Tech Parameters .

The conversion from national grid to lat, long is done by a PHP class, except the Irish Grid which is done by Nearby.org.uk - Location Searches - Points of Interest - UK - GB and Ireland .

john Fuller: You can't damage the box with an upgrade if there is no signal or a poor signal. The box does a CRC check on the data and will not attempt to use if it is corrupt.

You may have a "no signal" message because you don't actually have a signal.

Another reason could be the receiver circuits in the box have blown.

ronnie space: I really don't know where you can get a Freeview signal from before 4th April 2012. Perhaps she is using Virgin Media?

mike Roberts : The information taken automatically from the Ofcom database at Ofcom | Tech Parameters .

The Bay transmits at 1.6kW in horizontal and vertical, you can't add the two values together as a single aerial can't receive the two outputs combined.

Peter D: To be fair, the studios in Newcastle were not destroyed, just allowed to decay. In addition, modern television is largely made outside of the studio, and such facilities are needed much less.
