KB Aerials Sheffield : Thanks for the link. It all looks interesting, I will contact their PR people and see if I can get some more details.
I'm not sure if is going to count as a "free" service though.

Andy S10: On the Sheffield transmitter the digital services will go from 100W/50W to 1kW. See "Comparison of analogue and digital signal levels" on Freeview on Sheffield TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
You may have to remove the amplifier, but you will have to wait for the second stage of the switchover on Wednesday 24th August 2011.

ronnie space: Sorry, but you have no access to Freeview until 4th/18th April 2012 when your region switches over. You will then have Freeview Light.
If you want digital TV before then, Freesat (or a DVB-S card for your PC and a dish) is your only option.

It's probably worth mentioning that the main Emley Moor transmitter also covers Sheffield, and many homes will be using that transmitter and will be unaffected by this weeks changes.

Mike Dimmick: Confusingly enough, there *is* a Channel Zero Channel Zero • Discover a whole new TV experience it is overnight-delivered text system for some boxes which has a Freeview LCN of 306.
On the boxes it appears on, it appears at position 0, just above BBC One at the top of the EPG.
