Paul Parkin/Brian: I can't explain it, I can just say that lots of people are reporting the problem. It appears that there is a HD transmission, but there seems to be no data in it.

Please report this to the BBC as they will need to deal with it - Broadcaster complaints details | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice has the link.

Michael: I can only run with the information provided, that's why it says "The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Nottingham transmitter.". This doesn't mean, and it does not say that, there are no faults, it means there are none showing up on the BBC or Digital UK systems.

You are correct, the public do not have a contract with Arqiva, only the broadcasters do.

Matt: Yes, more than likely the stronger signals will help. However, you might like to consider Freesat/Freesat HD as this service is less likely to have problems with aircraft.

Chris Pike: Not much I would suspect, it will be a Sky Italia box.

You can get a brand new Freesat box from a high street store for £30 that will do more.

John Low: Yes, Yagi aerials perform almost as well for transmitters directly behind the aerial as they do "in front".

Chris Perratt: basically, no. You can't atach FreeVIEW to a dish, it uses an aerial.

Doonie: You can't attach Freeview equipment to a dish. You need a FreeSAT+ box.

Stewart Crowe: It would appear that the fault is not showing up on the system. I suspect that this is because there is still an actual DVB-T2 transmission, but it seems to contain no data.

I suspect that this is not being picked up by the automatic monitoring equipment, and therefore Digital UK and the BBC can't see it.

As I said above, report the problem to the BBC and when enough people complain they escalate the problem.
