chopper: It needs the second link to the LNB package if you want to record something you are not watching, but it will operate to some extent with just the first cable connected.

Mark A.: They should really say "you don't need a new rooftop aerial", I suppose.
Indoor aerials will never be suitable for digital reception in the UK.
