The Frequency is currently C27 (522.0MHz), C29 (538.0MHz) and C57 (762.0MHz) - as the local multiplexes use the "interleaved frequencies" in the national plan.

Michael: The system used ("NDS") is now owned by Cisco. NDS Group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has details.

sue purves: a sky card won't make the slightest bit of difference.
If you have reset your sky box already then the most likely answer is to get a larger satellite dish.
From what I recall - I used to live in Cascaise - three are plenty of local installer companies who can help.

MikeB: .... or you can do it the old-fashioned way and use a hardware firewall.
The good ones aren't cheap, but they are effective.
Cisco ASA 5505 Security Appliance - Firewall Edition.. | Ebuyer.com is an example.
But £263 is cheaper than the Cisco ASA 5515-X Firewall Edition Security appliance | Ebuyer.com at £2181!

Michael: if you bypass the CPU in the smartcard then you're not going to get acting other than unencrypted data!
Why would Ofcom stop something that is totally legal?
