Dave N: No, some French channels use MPEG4, and your box will not work. You can use a UK "Freeview HD" box.

Tom Allen: That is perfectly normal. The encoder software detects on a frame-by-frame basis if interlaced or progressive encoding results in the best output, so the decoder will show this as switching between 1080i and 1080p dynamically.

Will: I do recall seeing that article at the time. What it means is that switchover IN LONDON will be completed BEFORE THE OLYMPICS.

Looking back at the schedule I had on that date (August 1 2007): UK Digital Switchover | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV and switchover advice ....

It clearly shows that Northern Ireland is "On or before Saturday 30th March 2013", and the North East as "On or before Tuesday 30th October 2012".

Yakoob: BBC South will no longer be covering Brighton and Hove, so you will be "preferring" a local news with no local news.

LORRAINE: You are incorrect. Brighton and Hove became a Unitary Authority after the Local Government Commission for England (1992) review - and came into being in 1997.

The city status was given by HM Queen as part of the millennium celebrations in 2000.

Whilst unitary authorities do not take any governance from the County Council, addresses (as set by Royal Mail) within the UA remain in the "ceremonial county", which for Brighton and Hove is East Sussex.
