With switchover quite close, 21 September 2011, when you will get a considerably better signal, you might want to wait until then, rather than spend money on your aerial at this point.

Lynne Haywood: You can get all the Freeview channels using a bog-standard rooftop aerial from the Chesterfield transmitter today.

michael: Are you sure you are aligned to the correct satellite cluster. Other satellites use the same frequencies, but have different serves on them.
Also, Astra 2D, which has the HD channels on it, will require a large dish when outside the UK.

mike dow: The two most likey reasons are:
1) The SCART cable is loose; or
2) The output has been changed from RGB to SVideo in the menu of the satellite receiver.

Raba: Sorry, but you can't watch the UK channels from the Astra 2 satellite cluster from Ghana as you are outside the satellite's reception "footprint".

dave baber: No, but you can use your "old" Sky box to watch the free-to-air channels by connecting it to a spare output on your satellite dish. This will allow you to watch any free channel in the kitchen, independent from the main TV.

robert stockwell: You are using the Mendip transmitter, and you will be getting a very strong signal from it.
If you have already checked the Freeview intermittent interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice page, then you might have too strong a signal.
If you have, remove any boosters or amplifiers from your system, if the problem persists, you may need to fit an attenuator, they cost about a fiver.
