craig: You might have an "analogue" and "digital" mode to your set, you might have to ensure that the TV is in "digital" mode.

Ian: Basically any tree will "earth" the incoming transmissions, be they terrestrial or satellite, so you must avoid them.

If that means mounting a more industrial dish higher up, then that might be the only option, given you seem to be surrounded by trees.

Well, other than a chainsaw of course.

kevin ward: It might, but the problem with loft aerials is it almost impossible to say. You would receive all the services today if you move the aerial to the roof.

Karl: You shouldn't really have to go on the roof if you get a good signal already from a rooftop aerial, you just need to split the signal at some point and feed RF cable (preferably satellite-grade) to the other points.

A strategically placed splitter would save cable length.

Sammy: Please see Astra 2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat SatTracker to find out where to point the dish. The satellite is over the equator, so is somewhat to the south...

M Smith: No, you can't do that. You must first subscribe to a Sky basic package using Sky equipment to access Sky Sports channels on satellite.

You can also get the channels - in SD only - via BT Vision, Top UP TV and Virgin Media.

The only option via a Freeview TV is TUTV - see Freeview, Digital TV Recorder (DTR), ESPN & More .

Chris: Sounds very strange to me. Unless it is the batteries in the remote, of course.

Kevin: For general advice, see Freeview reception has changed? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - a dish won't hurt your reception, unless it has been put right in front of your aerial.
