Below are all of Roger's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.In Plymouth I receive BBC4 HD on Com 8 from Caradon, using a wideband (colour code black) antenna in the loft.
Until earlier this year all was fine but then the signal started dropping out, with my YouView box showing only around 30% signal strength at the worst times, compared with 98+ % for channels not on Com8.
During the recent dry weather the signal strength has increased to 50% and the problems have gone away for now.
I notice that the transmitter power on Com8 is much lower that for the other multiplexes. Is the poor reception a common problem for Caradon users? What can be done?

I am over 70 but do watch in HD if available. Many of the best quality programmes (not reality or game shows) are on BBC4 which from June will not be broadcast down here (Plymouth: Caradon Hill).
All to pander to more mobile phone users!
Will the BBC be reducing my licence fee to reflect the reduction in service?

MikeP,
I was of course not seriously expecting any reduction in the licence cost, and nor is my name Harry!

Great! I noticed yesterday that channel 106 from the Caradon transmitter is now showing BBC4 HD again.

For some weeks now BBC4 HD on channel 106 has broken up occasionally. Last night it was worse than usual - checking the signal strength it varied from 0 to 25%. So I did a retune on my YouView box, and BBC4 HD is no longer there at all!
When the change to digital tv occurred I bought a new wideband aerial. What can I do now as this is a major channel for my interests? All other channels have good strength, mostly 98 - 100%.
Thanks,
Roger, Plymouth (Caradon transmitter)
