I live in Eyemouth, I only have a loft Ariel but it has worked 99.9% of the time. The only time it went out was probably due to atmospheric conditions. I now have an LCD TV with Freeview HD built in. I've now found that a set-top ariel will work fine if positioned correctly. If you have an old one lying around it might be worth a try. The signal strength might be slightly lower but it wont effect the picture.

I only mentioned a set-top Ariel because it's easy to move about and pick up what might be a very directional signal. I was even able to receive a signal from the Grampian transmitter for a very short period over the summer and that's a very long way away indeed.

Eyemouth
OK, I can see that the Eyemouth transmitter is currently down. So I wont try and retune my TV. Your tracking seems to be working well, good job.

I just retuned my Freeview HD Sony TV and got a whole host of new channels from the Eyemouth transmitter, I had thought that this was just a technical issue to re-allocate channel numbers. Now I have to click through about 80 channels to find the one I want, but it's an improvement on the 13 or so channels I was getting before. Happy viewing.

William Hill: As I suspected the actually extra channels I received on 3rd Sept were weak signals from the Durris transmitter not the Eyemouth transmitter and they were not stable, so I had to do a rescan and went back to about 52 channels, several which simply state that the have been moved to a new channel i.e. ch80 to ch 130 BBC News. So, it's back to a restricted selection of channels for me.

Problems started on Saturday with signal drop out and no video on the HD channels 101 to 105. I tried the auto digital tune on my Sony TV and these channels disappeared completely. Same situation this morning so I did another auto digital tune and channels 101 to 105 are back. I can only assume the HD Mux was down or faulty for several hours as the SD channels were always fine.

I receive Freeview HD through an aerial in the TD14 area (Eyemouth in the borders) so I don't normally get signals from the Durris transmitter. Last night about 40 new channels appeared on my Sony HD telly, I can only assume there were some freak atmospheric conditions, some of the channels were quite weak but several were viewable. I did a rescan
later and they disappeared. We used to get a very weak analog signal many years ago. Just shows how far a signal can travel when there is line of sight across an expanse of sea.
