All DAB transmitters

LBC is now not available on DAB in my area. My postcode is NE26. I like this station which will continue on the SKY platform, but this is inconvenient. Can you explain the reason?

Dave Lindsay: Thank you for your reply regarding the sad loss of LBC in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. May I ask if an appeal can be made to restore LBC to DAB. Also, would it be possible for LBC to transmit on the AM frequency similar to Radio 4 in my area?

LBC is now not available in my area. Is it possible to wirelessly transmit LBC from my SKY box(channel 0112) in the living room, to some kind of receiver/speaker which can be carried like a radio around the house? I seem to remember that SKY had something which looked like a speaker. Any advice would be appreciated.

Pleased to inform everyone that I am now receiving LBC again outside of London on my new Internet radio. Problem solved at low cost.

I have an HD television with two feeds, i.e. (1) FREEVIEW and (2) SKY. Why do I have to turn up the volume quite considerably when switching from SKY to FREEVIEW? The picture quality is not quite as good on FREEVIEW as on SKY, but acceptable. My FREEVIEW transmitter is PONTOP PIKE, and my postcode is NE26. In recent weeks I have noticed an improvement in the picture quality on FREEVIEW but not the volume strength. Sorry, I am not technical, but I hope you will understand.

We used to have Radio 4 regional, before local BBC radio stations were created. In my area it was BBC Radio 4 North from Newcastle. We had regional news, weather and local programmes, opting out of London at various times. It worked very well, and I believe that this could save quite a lot of money. BBC1 television is still branded as BBC North East and Cumbria, with regional news and weather, opting out of London at various times.

Further to my earlier comment, I would like to confirm that the former BBC Radio 4 North opt out was broadcast from Newcastle upon Tyne and not Newcastle in Northern Ireland.

I have listened to LBC on DAB for a very long time. About two weeks ago I started to experience drop outs. Nearly every sentence from a presenter could not be understood owing to sporadic distortion accompanied with minute loss of reception. This is still ongoing. I retuned my DAB radio and checked the BBC World Service which is giving perfect reception. I contacted OFCOM who referred me to AUDIENCE SERVICES. They indicated that there are no engineering works affecting my NE26 postcode. A neighbour has also experienced my problem. I contacted LBC who advised me to listen online instead and that they are not responsible for DAB transmitters. I have not moved my kitchen DAB radio and so nothing has changed ! As mentioned, I can listen to the BBC WORLD SERVICE without this annoying sporadic drop out. I have exhausted all avenues for advice and perhaps your forum could be of assistance.

Regarding my previous LBC reception problem, I resited my DAB radio from my kitchen bench to the top of my fridge freezer. Resiting was a recommendation from AUDIENCE SERVICES and to extend the aerial as far as possible. Also, to point the aerial until dropouts could no longer be heard. The top of the fridge freezer is above my height (5' 10") and so far seems to have worked. A very technical explanation email discussed DAB signals are sometimes on a "cliff edge" and some radios cannot perform well with a weak signal.
