Hi,possibly the signal strength is too high/low for the box,you could buy a cheap indoor aerial to track the
cause,i've noticed a few freeview boxes are faulty in some way, quality is lacking in everything these days.

hI,THE use of preamps is rather debatable,as many boxes will freeze if the signal is too high,in analogue
days it was so easy to set up but this has changed, there is in most areas, interference from the power lines
due to the fact that data is transmitted over them, radio reception in many cases is spoilt, coupled with the
fact of mobile phone transmitters and other services, there is plenty to disrupt reception these days, which
pushes the average viewer to become a little tech savvy.Coupled with some dodgy tv firms who install service area aerials in secondary service areas and stick preamps in line, which cause no end of problems,it
seems solving problems has become a minefield, perhaps the easy way is to know yr local tv conditions, have
a cheap indoor aerial and see what the local field strengths are like.Freeboxes are affected by local noise
levels.Like modern cars, you will need to know more than putting the key in the ignition!!!!!!

Hi,as in analogue days,a lot of locations have difficult receiving problems, generally outside the primary
service area, fading problems can be chronic, very much like the old days on band 1 bbc, some transmitters
by virtue of their location had many problems in their service areas so the problem has again reared its
ugly head.

Martin everett: Dear Martin,my suggestions because i don't know the local conditions in yr area is to install
a higher gain aerial or use freesat. If you can,get a cheap aerial and search your home etc for a better signal, sometimes a better signal can be found at ground level or in unexpected places.Try tilting yr existing
aerial upwards, signal twist does often happen and when i lived in swindon was chronic in places.Lets know
the outcome.n..................

Hi,lot of areas get difficult reception because the UHF waveband used for tv is more like light than lower wavebands, and is easily blocked by the terrain. When it was allocated to tv,it was regarded as a rubbish
waveband, poor range ,high transmitter powers were required to get a reasonable service.

Graham Hill: I'm not sure where you live in the area but sometimes the boxes play up the sigs are either
too strong or weak, perhaps you can advise,i'm lucky near weston as i get a swamp signal ,reception is possible without any aerial plugged in.It could be the box or lead has developed a fault, please advise if you
want to...............nick

Hi,i am advised that possibly reception is possible with 3 or 4metre dishes,do you have to have planning permission in italy, another way is to put two or more dishes in series, say 3x 1.20m.

I think the position shared by many the, vhf fm service is superb and dab is only because the manufactures and government want, the frequencies would have better used for tv

if the national fm is switched, then private rebroadcaster staions are possible, just around yr house, pick up from a freeview tuner and rebroadcast around yr house only.

Hi,everyone has refused to believe this, THIS IS DELIBERATE NOISE added by the manufactures of the freeview product to encourage you to buy the HD version, more money for them, its called expander noise, and is also found in sd cameras,if you observe the pictures on certain programmes,it is nothing to do with mpeg 2 encoding,if you don't believe me,switch yr box to the radio section and see how clean the picture.Really the manufactures should be proscuted for this but pigs will fly.The noise can be modified to suit the purpose and on digital programmes, its arranged to show blocking.Look at the picture when it freezes,it is different,if you dont want to believe me ,fair enough.......................On football, there is a lot of movement so it looks like a ghost image is there.Remember VHS,the outlines are spikey, same thing, done for copyright reasons.
